One question -> Does this update solve the issue with the HDMI range setting or do we still have to leave it in the 16-235 value ?

 

Yeah also my list is getting shorter.

Decides. Now everything works automatically. Expose AUTO.
The only thing that seemed to me, but maybe it's paranoia, that the color rendition has become ordinary, not tasty, like completely sdr.
I'm afraid the VS10 has been tricky. But I could be wrong.

Anyway, Thank you very much for the new update! A lot has been fixed and that's good.

 

IF am not wrong the right setting IS the 16-235 because the movies are mastering in that range…
But now, ‘auto’ should be working properly..

You can easily test it by yourself. I know you own a a90j. All you have to do is to match the settings of your TV with the one of the zidoo.
On the a90j: go to "picture settings" "Video Signal" "Hdmi video range"
Limited is 16-235
Full is 0-255

Set it to limited on the TV and to 16-235 on the zidoo
Auto on the TV and auto on the zidoo was always wrong for me, since long before the last update

When you have the zidoo on auto and you switch it on the TV to Full, you can see it is not black crushed anymore.
So to be sure you have the right setting, set the TV to limited and the zidoo to 16-235.
Because Film is mastered in limited (16-235)

 

No improvement on following issues in this new firmware :
- PGS subtitles appear on the screensaver
- No IMDB ratings for individual episodes of a TV Show
