To go back to the issue of scanning i was talking about the other day.

i added a serie yesterday and it was realy wonky, added the folder of the single serie and it took ages. but after i got tired of fidling with it (trying add it manualy, re-match. and remove and add source) it sortet it self out after a reboot the serie was fully scraped and working.

then today i was just curois to se if it was just a once time thing and everything was working fine.

so added three sources one with each map containing a serie.

and nothing could make it scan and scrape it. remove, restart scan, reboot

then i manualy rematched the first episode on one of the serie and it started scanning and found 6 of 10 episodes..

so something seems to be bugged in that department..

Yes, I always have the problem of synchronization whether it's with the Dolby Digital, the dts hd, or the true hd atmos, sometimes weirdly not on atmos, then another day yes it comes back...
I do not use the new option but I still settle a deadline of 125 ms, which corresponds to almost all the time limits (DD, dtshd, atmos)
It's amazing that we're still facing a problem like this, never encountered on other zidoo... (for my part)
Can we hope for a real update to be able to read all our movies correctly? Anything actually for a media player, that's the basis...
On the other hand, I see that the films in 24 hz are perfectly fluid, in 23,976 it is less fluid and mini jerks are observed sometimes.

  3. I just bought a 2nd 8k to go in the basement with the projector. I know 3D frame packing is a no go and my OG Z9X will need to remain for that, but are we expecting the 2:35 mode to be added via firmware in the future?

i had it with my previous zidoo..when I had it connected to my tv and then e-arc to my AVR.
    Exact same sync value.

I thought I had no audio sync issues with this update but I just started watching a DTS-HD title that was 125 ms off.

How much better picture quality are these 8K devices really over the previous Pro models?

Better but not night and day better.

    There's a problem with "better".

If you look back at the old X9S and Z9S and compare their SDR images with those of current models, you're not going to see very much difference.

The only real problem, if you can even call it that, with the Realtek boxes was a certain amount of banding under certain circumstances with test patterns - certainly not something you could see in real world content and the AML boxes improve on that.

"Improvement" can only really be achieved to any great degree by artificial means - video processing and the like. Nvidia did this with the Shield, and now we have AI processing on the Zidoo.

So I agree with @blenky that there is a marginal improvement, but there's a very definite limit to how much you can improve without adding extra stuff in there.

Which is ok as long as you can turn it off.

Exactly 125 ms delay everywhere (dd, dts hd or atmos)
I didn't have this problem on z1000 pro.
So by putting 125 ms of delay, it looks good but is it normal to have to put a delay to correctly play a film on machines at this price?

I was wondering if anyone has noticed that the frame rate switching from 50 Hz to 24 Hz or 23 Hz is not functioning correctly. It seems the frame rate is not switching as expected.

Hello everybody! I have run into a new issue with my Z9X 8K, which I would like to report to the support team over here. I don't believe it matters to this specific new issue, but my system setup is: Z9X 8K->Denon 3800->JVC NZ8.

I have 3 files which are MKV HDR10+, and since I do not like the way my projector handles HDR10+, I wanted the Z9X to convert it to HDR10, using the VS10 engine. It works just fine for one of those 3 files, but when I play the other two, strangely the Z9X decides on its own to convert the Output to SDR, instead of HDR10.

    Follows my configuration:

    Configuration A.jpg Configuration B - VS10 for HDR10+.jpg

The output is correct with one of the files (file format is identified as HDR10+ and output as VS10-HDR10), as follows:

    File A - HDR10+ with VS10.jpg

Now (without changing any of the configuration) when playing the second (and third) HDR10+ file, I am getting output as VS10-SDR:

    File B - HDR10+ with VS10.jpg

Just as an additional check if there could be a problem with the second (and third) files, I changed the configuration of Dolby VS10 for HDR10+ Content to "NO", and played back all 3 files again, this time obtaining the correct output:

    File A - HDR10+ no VS10.jpg
    File B - HDR10+ no VS10.jpg

So, the issue seems to be the player VS10 engine does not like something on certain HDR10+ files, making the wrong decision to convert it to SDR instead of HDR10.

  12. That seems like an important one for JVC projector users with the forced sharpening, etc. on the HDR10+ mode on the laser models.

In the first picture if you want the player to output HDR10+ as HDR10 should you have the setting

HDR10+ Content output mode > HDR

    and not

    HDR10+ Content output mode > HDR+

If I recall correctly, there is no such option as pure HDR10 on that specific configuration menu item, but instead you only have SDR or HDR10+ as options - I will double check later on and confirm.

Oh, and BTW, the picture looks remarkly better when I allow the player to process HDR10+ files with the VS10 engine, converting it to HDR10. On my sistem it is much worse to passthrough HDR10+ or having it wrongly converted to SDR (this later one looks pretty bad indeed).

I’ve noticed if you run the box on auto (basically UI at 60 Hz) then the switching is really wonky. I’ve set mine to 23 Hz for everything and I’ve not seen any frame rate switching issues since doing that.

Hi guys, I don't know if it's already been reported by someone (I'm getting lost among all the posts), but I'm having a problem with the audio/video synchronization of VC1 films: When I play a film from the beginning (for example Sherlock Holmes 1080p ) the audio has a crazy delay compared to the video. If I send backwards or forwards even a little with the right/left arrows the audio synchronizes correctly. If I stop while watching with the Stop button and then resume playback, the audio is correctly synchronized. So the problem only exists when you play the movie from the beginning and only with VC1 movies. Has anyone encountered this problem?

It supposed to be fixed in fw .60 but some users are reporting still existing. Are you running the latest firmware?
    Change log for fw 1.0.60:
    20. Fixed occasional audio-video sync Issues with certain VC1 films

Yes, I updated to v.1.1.60. The curious thing is that with the Z1000pro I didn't have this problem.

Actually it seems to be produced by boxes with AML SoC.
Let's wait they come back from holidays and re-fix such bug.

(BTW I can't read your AML box in your signature, just showing Z1000pro)

I hope there will be a resolution of the problem soon with the next update.

    You're right, I didn't update my signature.

Furthermore, I found another graphic bug in the display of the progress bar during video playback: if I set the Zidoo to 'Frame rate and resolution' the bar, during playback of videos from 1080 and below, is not displayed correctly but is cut off in half horizontally. On 4k video it is displayed correctly. However, if I set the Zidoo to 'Frame rate only' then the bar is displayed correctly on all videos. Have you noticed this too?
