Hello I just ordered the X20 and am getting it on 16th July. I want to buy an HDD before it arrives so what's the best HDD in term of speed and size? I read the WD RED is the best match for it so am thinking of getting a 1TB or 2TB. Dose the size effect the speed? Thank you.
brand should not matter, unless it's a no name local brand, WD,seagate,samsung, all should work as for capacity. i'd recommend 4TB for best size/price , something with 5200-5900 RPM. if you plan to run the box only when watching movies. than a desktop HDD will work just fine. like a 5400 RPM baracuda or WD blue if you plan 24/7 NAS , Seagate ironwolf 4TB 5900 PRM comes in mind or if you really want. Thank you for your response. Brand doesn't matter to me too but WD is more popular where i live so i can find various of sizes and types. I guess I will buy a WD blue 4TB.

At 4 Tbyte it will be somewhat more expensive but no way near SSD prices achieving almost the same goals (read speed is not a relevant factor here).
I use two WD Red 6TB drives in my player and used the same drives in my last player (Zappiti). Works perfectly!
