streaming videos: worst "hiccups" ever. i can't watch anything on my x6 pro

i am experiencing really bad video streaming on my x6 pro to my LG 60PZ950. i hope by updating it to ZIDOO_X6_Pro_v1.0.22_ota it would stop.. but it did not help at all.

so, what does happen exactly?

• from wherever i stream videos in kodi (tv or video) at some point (actually during a whole movie several points) the video and audio gets distorted then black for a second or two and then it comes back again

this makes any movie unwatchable.

i assume the issues might be in any of following points:

• broken codecs
• resolution issue
• broken x6 pro hardware

anyone has an idea how to fix this?

to make it reproducible i managed to find some options (by going to the dark side)

• kodi addon SALT: Movie "Spectre" @53secs AND 1min01secs
  
• kodi addon 1channel: TV Show "the curse of oak island" - (2x5) the 90-foot stone @37secs
  
• kodi addon 1channel: TV Show "the curse of oak island" - (2x6) Seven Must Dye @37secs

please help me .. this is driving me crazy! thanks in advance!

this may two point possibility:
1: The HDMI problem, pls check if the HDMI wire plug contactly tight?
2: if you open the auto reflash seting in kodi setting?

to 1) i think the HDMI cable is plugged in tight: i will recheck tonight and even try a second cable
to 2) where do i find this "auto reflash settin" exactly?

ok.. wow, did i just test a lot ..
and i took my other android box (minix)to compare as well..

so,
1) it's not the cable
- tried 3 cables on both boxes..
- they were always firmly plugged in
- the minix had no problems, the zidoo always failed

1.5) it's not the internet connectivity:
- the minix is on wifi and works fine
- the zidoo is on gigabit lan and has the hiccups

2) it's not the kodi setting "refresh rate"
- the minix has it turned "off" and works fine
- for the zidoo, i trief all the combinations with:
.. android display resolution settings
.. kodi display refresh rate settings
.. kodi sync playback to display option
.. on all 3 mentioned streams
-> damn shit loads of combinations!
-> none of them worked fine
-> so i went back to my initial settings: android resolution "auto", kodi display refresh rate settings "off", kodi sync playback to display option "off"

2.5) i tried other streams: e.g. kodi addon 1channel: TV Show "the curse of oak island" - (2x9) a dangerous dive
-> suprise: it worked fine!!!!!
difference i could figure out between the streams: the quality:
- the first three videos where low quality: standard definition (SD)
- this one was HD

3) last try was again in kodi video settings: acceleration
- tried to turn "on" hardware 23976 optimize - rockchipcodec: no luck with this, so i turned it "off" again
- tried to turn "off" hardware acceleration - rockchipcodec -> surprise no. 2: all 4 streams work fine

so the issue looks to be the the hardware acceleration of the rockchip with low resolution streams
- works for me now... (will keep testing over the next few days if it is working in all situations)...
- but i would like to have the hardware acceleration working.. cause i also have highdef video, wich i would like to play on the zidoo.

@spring: comments and ideas?

Can you share the video files' codecs and resolutions used that you have problems streaming with?
Enable software decoding and disable RockchipCodec, when a video is playing press 'o' on a keyboard to see the video resolution and codec used.

hi everyone.. have a little update...
..so, like i was saying on my post from nov 11th...

i have e.g. this file here "The.Curse.of.Oak.Island.S03E02.Pipe.Down.HDTV.x264-SPASM.mp4"... (see attached pic for codec infos)
it plays smoothly on

• VLC on Windows: OK
• VLC on Android (Zidoo): OK

...but: Kodi on Zidoo: black screen, just sound
i tried to access it in Kodi in different ways:

• Windows Network (SMB)
• UPnP
• SD slot, with a SD card

..but always with the same result... black screen, just sound

so, remember, that i have: Video -Setting - Acceleration: "Allow hardware acceleration - RockchipCodec" set to OFF?
..when i turn it ON, it works.. (did not watch it far enough though to check if i get "hiccups" on it...)

however.. very annoying this whole situation ...

and now i am watching this file .. and i DO get the hiccups

.. happy to read though, that in the release after 24 of the firmware this should be solved

 

25 beta is out .. so soon oficial of 25.. and i hope it is fixed

 

@mirror i just read that people are experiencing this with firmware 27 .. any change fix this soon?

 

Any update on this ? Same problem than the one on this thread with hardware acceleration: X6 keeps going black on Sharp Aquos tv.

I'm using firmware 27 and the bug is still there.

Hope this will get fixed soon.
