    My video settings for a Samsung TV is:
    HDR10 -> HDR1o
    HDR10+ -> HDR1o+
    DV --> VS10-DV to convert
    SDR --> VS10-DV to convert

    Okay! I see that you convert the SDR into VS10-DV...........personally I find the SDR better in SDR! But everyone has their own choices.

    Hello

    Why is 10-bit output recommended instead of 8-bit for non-4k files?

    Occasionally you'll come across 10-bit 2K files so I changed the recommendation from 8 to 10-bit.

    Personally I use 8-bit since I have no 10-bit 4K content.

    Is 12-bit not reccomended? I've set mine to use 12-bit 4:4:4. I don't have any 12-bit sources. But I do have 10 bit sources and I was wondering if the AI post processing would use the additional bits (smooth gradation / debanding etc). I'm probably expecting too much from the AI processing.

    My TV has a 10bit panel. So probably doesn't help unless the box decodes DV for it.

    On a Z30 Pro does anyone use the USB Audio output to connect to a DAC. If so, which of the 3 USB 3.0 ports should we choose?
    Thanks

    I have a Z9X 8K and use a USB DAC with it. I don't think it matters what port you use. I use the one in the most convenient position for the cable run.

    Well I come back on my words, because I did some tests again on my JVC NZ7 and if I put the JVC in manual tone mapping with white correction on 3 criteria, the SDR image read in LLDV is really superb.. ........but do not turn on the "FramAdapt wide"......... So this suits me because I watch everything in LLDV with tone mapping and therefore only one setting and image at the TOP!!!!

    I've been converting everything to LLDV for years and when I recently got a new PJ I expected to use native formats, but so far LLDV is best there too.

    For 4K HDR, I found YUV444 12 bit works best for my JVC NX7. Colors are 99% close to what I get from Pansonic 9000 UDP player.

    There's no difference between 10 and 12-bit for YUV 4:4:4.

    YUV 4:2:2 12-bit is worth a go though.

    Will give this a try this weekend to see if I notice any difference. Thank you.

    Hi Mark!
    when setting YUV 4:4:4 10 bits the image is 10 bits.
    when setting YUV 4:2:2 12 bits the image is 8 bits.
    Why?

    This is a common error in the TV's firmware.

    8-bit 4:2:2 isn't supported in HDMI so it's not possible to send it over HDMI.

    However, 12-bit 4:2:2 is a unique mode as it happens to have exactly the same bandwidth as 8-bit 4:2:2 so older displays used to use colour sub sampling mode and bandwidth to decide what the incoming signal was and had a problem deciding whether the input was 8 or 12-bit and often got it wrong.

    The answer's obvious - if the signal is 4:2:2 then it has to be 12-bit because that's all that's supported, but whomever coded the firmware obviously didn't know that.

    Rest assured, it's 12-bit 4:2:2 coming in.

    4:2:2 12-bit has proved to be the best option for me from the Zidoo Z9X 8K > Anthem AVM90 > MadVR Envy > JVC RS1100. Running the Zidoo UI at 23 Hz means 23 Hz 4K files sync in roughly 2-3 seconds consistently. It's really improved my experience with the Zidoo using this setting.

    Hi Mark.
    What happens if I set all voices to YUV 4:2:2 12 bit?
    Consider that I have a 77 inch LG oled C3.
    More than anything I would like to understand what is the most correct setting that I should use based on my configuration
