New to the Zidoo interface. I see the option for changing the poster art and also the background image. Does the Zidoo always blow up and zoom in when displaying the background image? Is there a way to have it display less blurred, less zoomed in, and higher resolution?

Speak in a mannerly way please - and fyi I'm old enough to be your grandad lol. Like I've said most if not all posts are answered on these forums so only one is needed - going to take the dog for a walk now :)

    Not sure what you mean.

There's a transparency and blur setting for dynamic backgrounds on the posterwall (and it can be turned off) but not in the details view - that's in full resolution.

In both cases resolution depends on the file and UI resolution setting, although the 1080p UI looks fine as long as the file is at least 1920x1080 (most are).

Not sure what you mean about zoomed in though.

I think it might be the file resolution and the fact that it is in poster dimensions, not 16x9. So the Zidoo is zooming to fit the image as the background, looks perfectly fine as poster art though. I might try and replace it with a different 1080P image that is 16x9 dimensions to see if that works.

    Ah, ok that makes sense.

I launched plex via a hotkey, entered the code in the app, and then an error. Am I doing something wrong?
How to launch plex on zidoo?

    Hi Mark!

I am currently using a Sony TV ( X9005 early DV model 2019) and I have a question about setting up my brand new Z300pro.

My tv has 3 presets for DV. Vivid ( which is total crap) , Dark, and bright. I know dark is supposed to be the most accurate but a like Bright better.

I had a previous realtek player with which I could not use TVled Dv ( resulted in a pink image) I had to go player Led. wich was fine !

but for HDR10 content I always found it too dark and with no option to get it brighter on the tv ( max brightness.) . So i liked to use VS10 to output HDR10 to DV on the TV, so i could use the "DV bright" preset on the tv.

can I still do it ? I mean does the HDR output with VS10 on my DV tv will get me the result i had with the realtek soc?

as for SDR I will output it unchanged.

    thank you for your time.

Yes, but the options are way better now - the HDR options are now fully agile (see pic in first post) which means you can choose any HDR/VS10 option for each of SDR, HDR10, HDR10+, HLG and DV.

By the way, the pink TV Led picture means you were using a custom EDID that includes TV Led DV but your TV does not support it. You shouldn't need to use a custom EDID.

    Thanks for your reply,

well as for custom EDID, i had no option over that. No possibility to change EDID on my device. so i dont know why .

I will do some testings on the Z3000 and get back to you !

thanks again for your time and knowledge.

What does this setting do and why do you recommend not to enable it?

And yet - why can't I run PLEX on my player?

It's image enhancement and I don't like any kind of unnecessary image processing, but as I say, these settings are a starting point so by all means have a play with it

Need the ability to configure the inclusion of processing for a specific resolution (DVD, 720p, 1080p). So that, for example, you can disable these settings for 4K content

AI Image Enhancement (AI PQ) only applies to 1080p or lower resolution content when it's upscaled to above 1080p, so you have to have Match Resolution Off.

Similarly with AI Super Resolution (AI SR), that's an upscaling algo, so again, Match Resolution must be off.

    **edit**

Actually - Now I've said that, I'm not 100% sure - I just tried turning AI PQ on and switched on the information panel and it shows picture analysis even if content is 4K...

I am having a couple issues with my Zidoo Z9X 8K and JVC RS500

    1. I cannot get it to output 4k25p, the JVC does not register an input. This works just fine on my older Z9X regular. Same settings for resolution/refreshrate/bit depth
    2. HLG content looks bad, washed out image and wonky colors. I know VS10 is enabled as it pops up when starting a file. I am very happy with the VS10 SDR tonemapping for DV, HDR10+, and HDR10. Same on both Zidoos I have, and the same custom rec709 EDID and tonemapping settings. Is there something else I am missing? Asia 2160p HLG HEVC 25fps sourced from BBC iPlayer

I know this may not help - but I got hold of ep 1 of Asia. Played perfectly fine at 25fps and looked stunning in HLG.
