    @Markswift2003 hello Mark.
I ve tested with all 3 files. My TV is an LG 55UG870V no HDR. The contrast setting on the TV was set to 90. Made a test like thisl: I've puted the file on an usb and played directly from the TV. I saw that the whites were clipping till 246. Changed the contrast in the TV to 99 and the whites were clipping till 235. Aprox all good and satisfied.

But I don't know if I understood well because in my case is the oposite when playing the clipping file from zidoo and the TV contrast set as 99. So with the following settings

    Dolby VS10 for HDR10 Content > Yes

    Dolby VS10 for HDR10+ Content > Yes

Dolby VS10 for HLG Content > yes

Dolby VS10 for DV Content > yes

I have problems with the whites. It's not rendering ok. I SEE FADED CLIPPING TILL 242.

BUT if I change Dolby VS10 for SDR Content > NO

The file playes well with clipping till 235, like it was playing directly on USB from the TV.

That's because you adjusted the contrast (white level) on the TV when the box was outputting a full range white signal (AML SDR).

Ok, but it's ok what I did or I should change settings? Put the TV back to 90 j contrast and modify in the Box?

Until this issue is resolved, I'd set everything back as it was before and use:

SDR Content Output Mode > SDR

    and

Dolby VS10 for SDR Content > YE
    S

You should only mess with settings if you know what you're doing and understand the interactions caused to other settings, especially when dealing with SDR, HDR and Dolby Vision together.

@Markswift2003 If I put back the contrast value on the TV and play the video see the results. Plus on some TV shows in darker scenes I see a lot of noise/artefacts (whites dots like over sharpening) with VS10 for SDR enabled

    See the attached photos.

    @Markswift2003 - Hi Mark,

Trying not to bug report at the mo (more important stuff to address than minor stuff), but, quick question:

If you have a custom edid, you have something playing (let's say a 23.976hrz film, any res), switch the inputs on a receiver to another input, why/how would the f/r now be 60hrz, when using a custom edid when you switch back to the Zidoo input on the the receiver? - should not the box be blind to any changes upstream? Or, have I missed something?

Not sure - probably loss of HDMI sync during playback - I use an HDFury immediately after the Zidoo which removes any upstream HDMI shenanigans.

Ok, cheers Mark - I'll park this one for the mo (I'd like to understand more about those dynamics), one for a later date.

Is there a cliffnotes of this issue ??
    Sd hdr dv ??
Avoid and stick with the z9x, or it's a non issue in day to day viewing on a sony display??
    Thanks much for your time

Seems to effect BT:709 only (so DV and HDR seem to be ok). @Markswift2003 suggests to use VS10 SDR until this issue is fixed.

And yes, it very noticable in normal viewing conditions (once you see it).

Curiosity got the better of me on this - been mad busy on other stuff the last week or so but got a couple of hours spare this morning so I thought I'd test this.

    1. Connected the Zidoo directly to my Denon amp, bypassing the HDFury.
    2. Set Resolution and HDR modes to Auto
    3. Set Custom EDID to BT.2020 HDR10+ (it's a Samsung display connected to the amp)
    4. Played a 4K23 HDR10 video file which of course played in 4K23 HDR10
    5. Switched inputs on the amp
    6. After a few seconds, switched input back to the Zidoo
    7. Video file was still playing at 4K23 HDR10

Then tried just the UI mode:

    1. Connected the Zidoo directly to my Denon amp, bypassing the HDFury.
    2. Set Resolution to 4K23 and HDR mode to Auto
    3. Set Custom EDID to BT.2020 HDR10+ (it's a Samsung display connected to the amp)
    4. Confirmed UI is 4K23 SDR
    5. Switched inputs on the amp
    6. After a few seconds, switched input back to the Zidoo
    7. UI is still 4K23 SDR

So it doesn't seem like I can replicate this.

so that outputs dolby vision for sd content then ?? (since my sony does dv) ??
    thanks
(worth sticking with a DR until this gets sorted, or no issue, and use these settings??)

No, this outputs SDR as SDR, but using the VS10 engine will correct the issue with Full Range White levels as a work around until the Devs fix the issue.

No, you output SDR content in VS10 SDR.

Sorry @Oldpainless - just saw you replied too - was too busy having a roly eyes moment ;) :)

got ya... thanks so much for the clarification...
(is the recommended settings page updated to reflect this ?? I'll make a note of it as well for myself, on a post it.. :))

No, because hopefully it's a temporary thing and the recommended settings page is just a starting point - not meant to cover all eventualities.

Assuming you used automatic setting previously, all you need to do is this:
