I can tell it is good but haven't played around with it fully yet. Saw this earlier this morning: - which explains the new Posterwall in one of the newer 8K models. So I'm pleased my UHD8000 will come with HT 5.0 too. I need to really look at it to minimise my changeover from my Z1000 Pro.

A noob question: When you rescan, do you need to do all "sources" separately or will HT 5.0 be intelligent enough to scan all separate sources altogether in one go? My sources are: 3 x NAS, 1 x ext HDD, 1 x ext HDD Hub and of course 1 x Internal HDD - all networked. Cheers

If it's set to scan automatically, then yes it should.

Is it a placebo effect or has anyone else noted a slightly faster/smoother transition to title card and movie playback from the time you select a movie?

I don't think it's any faster staring a movie. The online trailers loading (or decoding) time is even longer now but they do work. Full screen trailers is a nice touch, low quality but stutter free. Leap forward with HT 5.

Now if they could solve the disconnected source but database on issue I would be really happy. Zidoo's HT is the only app out there that does it. Everyone else keeps the database active with or without the source. I can boot Jellyfin server without a single drive connected and all my movies will show up. Of course if I want to play anything I have to connect the drives. This is useful when you have older drive full of older movies. You want to see it all but don't want to keep the drive powered up all the time.

I don't think ZIDOO sees that as an issue to be solved.. I believe that is a design choice that they have made..

  8. Can you explain what has changed or how this works? Is it possible to read imdb or tmdb links from nfos?

We had a poll setup to see what end users thing about it. 80% of people would like to see it implemented. It is probably a lot easer to do (keep database active without connected source) compared to stuttering and repopulating posters issue.
The poll is here for anybody interested.

The idea is to have a toggle switch keep database on or not when source is disconnected. It would satisfy all.

It would also speed up the opening of HT. The system wouldn't have to check for valid sources before loading the database.

Yeah, I don't doubt that the majority of users would want it the other way... I was merely pointing out that Zidoo is obviously making a conscious decision to go with the less popular option.. It's not a technical obstacle.

Yeah, agreed, not a techinal issue, but a design decision. What happens if the drives are unplugged and you press play? Kodi brings up a msg saying not available, would you like to delete (from the DB).

I'm not sure tbh that a perfect solution exists....

Problem with subtitles when pause or going back or front into the movie... the subs settings for up/down orientation are going to default. You must disable and then enable subs for your settings to work and not pause again of course...

Very true. Kodi will ask if you want to delete the title but you just simply say NO, go plug in your drive, give it a second and try again. Nothing wrong with it. Kodi will also ask you if you want to remove disconnected source during the DB update. Simple click on NO keeps everything intact.

HT removes all the titles from the disconnected drive. No other options, no info about the movies from that drive. The movies are gone from collections and all links to actors between movies missing like I never had those movies. It forces you to keep the drives powered up even if you don't need them all the time.

A bit off topic here, but since we got the scrolling posters fixed it's time to address the disconnected source issue ;)

Not sure if the wink indicates that you are being facetious but disconnected source "issue" will never be resolved by Zidoo as they don't consider it an issue...

Someday, in the unlikely event that they totally abandon HT and make it open source, some coder may grant your wish...but until then this is the way they want it....

Seems to me folks must be pretty happy with the new f/w, as I don't see many bug reports.

It would be great to have Music Player 8 apk file for RTD1619DR chips, like it was done for HT5

    We can only hope.....

But, I have to say, Zidoo seem to be back on their game, so all things being equal, I'll get one of the new 8k models at some point.

For those like me who own the UHD3000 and have no problems of any kind, I don't see the reason to upgrade to a higher model. It looks and sounds great. I also use it as a network audio streamer connected via USB to an external DAC with UAPP via DLNA/UPNP protocol and it works perfectly. I could think about buying the UHD8000 if there was a truly notable difference in video and audio compared to previous models but as Mark also said, we are talking about nuances that a very, very expert eye can notice. Spending more than 1000 euros to have more or less the same thing, for me it doesn't make sense
