Hi, I have the Z9X and trying to add a folder in Samba that is on my desktop PC. Under Samba, I click on ****DESKTOP and it prompts me for a Username and Password. I have no idea what username and password it is asking for. The question is, what username and password do I enter and where do I find it? Thanks in advance.
Depends how you set permissions for the share when you created it. Probably either anonymous or the administrator account credentials that were being used when creating the share.
Windows 11 can be a pain with network shares, especially if you are using a Microsoft account to login and not a local account. I'd recommend creating a local account with a username and password https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...-windows-20de74e0-ac7f-3502-a866-32915af2a34d make sure the shared directory is accessable by that user. And use it's credentials to access the share on your zidoo.
I always set up SMB sharing on a Windows PC with 3 steps and have never had problems accessing it from the Zidoo: 1. full permissions for sharing with everyone. 2. in the Security tab, full access for everyone. Under Network and sharing centre, I switch off password-based sharing. When I access the share from Zidoo, a window appears with the user name and password, which I leave blank and choose Anonymous, OK and I can access the share.
