With the new 2024 AMLogic based generation Zidoo developed their own App for Jellyfin.
Therefore, I thought it makes sense to create a dedicated thread for this new app.

See attached screenshots of the current version based upon FW 1.1.35:

You can add the apps as shortcuts for quicker access. Autostart is also possible.

This looks cleaner than the normal Jellyfin app. Pretty cool! Thanks for all the pics.

Are there different views other than the two grid sized poster walls? List view with media info?

    Yes, much cleaner :)
No, just the three different sizes of the poster wall

Okay, thanks. I'm a long term user of the 'jellyfin for kodi' addon. I've noticed that the you mentioned that there is third-party app support for using the native video player as an external player. I'm looking forward to testing this out when my box arrives.

I imagine it'll work fine but might lose synced status with the jellyfin server. This native app is a great fail-safe anyway. I'm sure I'm in the minority here but I bought this primarily for its music features, particularly LMS support. As a happy Eversolo user, I'm sure this media player will make a splash for those who prioritise music in their home systems. Plus the fact that it's an awesome video player.

Yes, you can use a fork of the official AndroidTV Jellyfin client made by @andy22 (https://github.com/Andy2244/jellyfin-androidtv-zidoo), which sadly is a few versions behind. Having said that, Andy indicated that he wanted to work with the Jellyfin team to get the relevant changes into the main app. Nothing new on this front I'm afraid, though.
This will feature all the sync status that you want :)

Is Zidoo going to use direct path like Andy’s version? Downloading and attaching subtitles doesn’t work at all unless player is in direct path.

External sub support, but GUI selection is not honored (will report that bug):

    @Sledgehamma

Is the client reading the file like Andy’s version or depends on Jallyfin server streaming video?
Audio and subs selection is from Jellyfin server side or local Zidoo player?

Andy’s version relied on direct path written in the server settings. The path could be written on the client end if needed.

Is it just me or does the UI look more like HT than Jellyfin? The filters especially, though I primarily just go to Movies and pick a genre rather than filtering on the Movies page, so maybe it's not?

Can you please do a few screenshots of what it looks like from the Zidoo player for the following screens?

How movies are presented in a Collection or within a Genre. i.e. do you get a poster wall or a single row with horizontal navigation?
What an episode screen looks like, including how it displays the next episode(s).

Wonder if Andy was involved in this or if this kills off any work he had planned for his fork. Then again I also wonder just how quickly this becomes deprecated and under-developed by Zidoo.

Yes its based upon HT. Why should they copy the Emby, Jellyfin and Plex apps? Way too much work.
I dont think that Andy was involved at all for this.
I'm on a short trip and will only be back on Wednesday, so sorry no pictures before that :(

Thanks, looking forward to the pictures.

The question asked is a strange one though. If you're releasing a Jellyfin app, of course you should copy Jellyfin, otherwise it's literally not Jellyfin. I thought that was obvious.

Instead of building all these clones that aren't actually those apps, they should focus on HT and ensure customers have an app they can continue to use for years to come on their existing players without being pushed to replace them every 1-2 years for a newer model and deal with bugs that go years without fixing.

Seems they have a problem with focus at Zidoo.

Not obvious at all imo. In fact all other apps such as infuse, MrMc etc all have their own interface but use Jellyfin as the backend (if wanted).
My goal would be to integrate Emby, Plex and Jellyfin directly in HT itself.

    It's a Jellyfin client.

If it just had a text interface it'd still be a Jellyfin client - that's how Jellyfin works. The official Jellyfin client has a look to compliment the server but why would another third party client do the same?? It's not a fork.

They're not clones - what Zidoo are doing here is building a coherent ecosystem across all their boxes, both Zidoo and Eversolo, with a common visual identity.

The app is the same - the new interface is tied very closely with Eversolo.

No one else has done this in the media player field before so as far as focus is concerned it's completely the opposite to what you said.

Say that first sentence again. Jellyfin client. If it's not going to have the same look and feel as Jellyfin, call it something else.

If your hardware architecture is sound, you don't even need to play around developing all these other apps, users can just install the Android app and you can focus on maintaining the players. Like I said, lack of focus and leaving customers high and dry well before the hardware is ready to be rolled over.

@Sledgehamma can you please export and share the new Zidoo + Emby apk and the Emby + Jellyfin apk for us to try (or whatever that new app is called). It's quick and easy, I have posted the video here. We would be indebted to you.
