I see that futeko is clearing the DMP-A6 for £599. Could be a sign of a new model coming.....or maybe they just want rid of overstock
I don't think so but yes a full line of Zidoo 8K players (Z9X 8K, Z30 Pro, Z3000 Pro and UHD8000) running MP8 which is a full equivalent of Eversolo MP. So a lot more choices coming. The new players miss the touch screen front panel and display on the TV instead. But these are full media players not just for music.
Well according to this picture of the app, the UDH8000 has a screen of some sort. No? So what would make someone like me who doesn't use the volume control or DAC outs of the A6 switch over to one of these others. I currently have an Apple TV AND the A6 in my rack. Could I simplyfy? Do these Zidoo players do Atmos MUSIC (like from Amazon Music) out of their HDMI outputs? Sorry, I'm totally out of touch with what these video streamers actually do. Thanks....Bonzo
Sorry, forgot to post the picture. ......well, maybe I'm not allowed? Hmmmmmm Wait, I think I got it....
What would be the point for a new player when the functionality of the A6 is not complete yet? Make customers angry?
It is a new Zidoo series of media players for Pictures/Videos/Music. They have only a small front display for (play)time plus some icons. The Music Player display is on the TV not on the front. A DAC is not included as HDMI with a TV, AMP and/or Soundbar is expected to be used. A different market for those wanting a universal 8K capable media player at various price levels. Not primarily intended for Stereo enthusiasts but Home Theaters. Functionally regarding core playback the Music Player/Streamer offers the same for all models including the Eversolo DMP models. Great offers: Z9X 8K (entry model), Z30 Pro (+1x HDD bay), Z3000 Pro (+1x HDD bay) and UHD8000 (+2x HDD bay + DAC). https://www.futeko.com/browse.php?cat=mp&sort=relevance For pictures and price indications. The local video player capabilities are on par with the excellent music player/streamer capabilities of Eversolo making these fantastic allround media players.
I still don't fully understand. I'm not a computer tech guy so a lot of the abilities goes over my head. Forgive my "dumbness" in this area.
Only Neo Class Zidoo players have a 5" touch control front screen similar to Eversolo A6/A8 6" screen. This is the UHD8000 Front with a dumb VFD display for Time + icons. Speaks for itself I hope. Nothing else can be shown on this. You can touch it but that will only dirty it with fingerprints. That big piece of plastic covering the central area may have fooled you that is a player height display which it isn't. It is just for the looks.
Okay, cool about the screen. When I say dumbness, I wasn't clear. I mean dumbness in regards to the uses and markets and what these things actually do. Why buy an A6 over the Zidoo? And vice versa. I understand a lot about the A6 (except just nothing about people linking them with computers). I use mine mainly as a streamer located in a full fledged old school music and video rack. Same goes for devices like A-TV, Roku Ultra. We use the A-TV to stream TV services like Netflix etc. I know nothing about the Zidoo devices (or any other possibly similar brands). What cards do they bring to the table? What do they do? What's the goal end user in mind? I'm trying to figure out if, for my needs, a Zidoo could do combined duty of the A6 and A-TV? Consider me a college level 101 course here. Thanks.
VFD - now that's "old" tech by today's standards. There's only seven companies left still making them. They used to be the bee's knees back in the 80s and 90s but they fell out of favour, replaced by less expensive and lower cost displays.
Thank you very much. So when you say local files, you mean movies stored on the internal drive, or a hard drive of a computer?
Oh, and do the Zidoo players do Atmos, from say Amazon Music? In my opinion that's a huge omission from the A6 (and presumably the A8).
Local is all private storage available to the media player: USB and SATA attached, NAS in any form and even cloud drives. The Zidoo players support Atmos and DTS-X as part of movies via HDMI (downmixed 2CH via Analog) Have some on BD. If the streaming music services equivalents do play too is unknown to me. We will find out soon enough.
Okay, I understand a bit better now. Not 100% because I don't do the computer thing. But I think I sort of grasp the general idea. Kind of like a Kaleidoscape on the cheap? Yes / no?
I'm very interested in the Zidoo 8K lineup for the way it combines video and audio streaming playback. I'm wondering if you have any other details on how the Music Player/Streamer software compares to what is offered in the Eversolo lineup, especially the Eversolo A6. Is it a direct port of the Eversolo software? Apart from cosmetics, is there any notable functionality differences? Thanks!
It is the same Music Player. The big difference there is no local touch screen instead output goes to the TV.
Thanks. Does the Zidoo allow me to adjust the volume of the USB output to an external DAC or does it output fixed level volume with the expectation that volume adjustments need to be made with the DAC or Amplifier?
