What would be the most favorable solution? Which HDFury do I need?

I have an anthem MRX-1140, older JVC 4k (not true 4K) projector and a Sony 4K TV and what I do is use the output from my Anthem to a A Ezcoo splitter which spoofs the edid
so it always looks like it supports 4k Dolby Vision, Atmos and all the colour profiles. its inexpensive $36 Canadian, if your using dolby vision to your projector you will have to
set it to HDR manually. if you want to get around this you can use an HD Fury even the arcana works and it will send a signal to switch on the HDR

I don't think the Anthem is at fault as it just passes through the video without altering it
the signal is just duplicated to the other hdmi ports the whole chain gets screwed as there are 2 different edids in the chain, the 2 ports are not discrete

I'd recommend a Vertex 2 if you're sticking with 4K for the foreseeable future, or, if not, a Vrroom.

I believe you can use an Arcana as a set and forget device but the Vertex/Vrrooms are so much better for diagnostics and dicking about with.

The key is being able to send a custom HDR signal only when LLDV is received - the older devices (Vertex 1, integral 2) can send an HDR signal but not on demand - it's either on permanently or off which isn't ideal.

If the Vertex 2 wouldn't be so expensive, I would have already bought one. I'll have to think about it.
I would like to stick with 4K for a longer term.

That's funny, or not funny. I had a very similar setup with similar problems. Zidoo->Denon X4400h->Hisense U76N + Sony XW5000ES on the ouput 1/2 of the Denon AVR. I also had the same problem of the Hisense randomly turning on and initiating a handshake during movie watching on the projector and disrupting things. At the recommendation of Mark, I bought a Vertex 2 and stumbled on a setting in there called "Android TV Fix" which I enabled on the Hisense port. No clue what this does but ever since I turned this "Fix" on the Hisense has not randomly turned a single time. For the sake of testing I turned that setting back off and immediately the issue happened again.

My setup is now Zidoo->Denon AVR->Vertex 2-> Hisense + Sony projector

In these somewhat complicated setups, I can't recommend a Vertex enough as it gives the behind the scenes of what is going on. Beware they do not like all brands of active HDMI cables but was able to solve this with a setting in the Vertex and an HDMI power injector. Everything is rock solid now. The only drawback is if I want to watch native Dolby Vision on the TV I have to use the built in apps as the Vertex forces everything to LLDV in this scenario.

    Hello,
two days ago I received as a present Zidoo Z9X. So my setup is Zidoo->Denon X3800H->Sony XR-55A80L OLED
I tried all settings, but can not make DolbyVision to work. I have 3 custom EDID in the ZIDOO, but don't know which one do I have to choose, or do I have to upload another one. Can you please help me, with this issue!
    Thanks!

If your TV is no DV enable, then only way is setup the Zidoo for LLDV output.

The TV supports HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision HDR formats but not the HDR10+ format, which, like Dolby Vision, provides extra scene-by-scene picture information to compatible screens.

Do not mess with custom EDIDs unless you know what you are doing.. I can only assume receiving a Z9x model now means it was used. First thing you should do is go into settings Other and return device to factory defaults, then set HDR for Auto.... If your HDMI handshake is working properly, then it should enable DV playback..

    Hello, thanks for the feedback!
Yes it is second hand and first thing I did was a factory reset. Afterwards i did Recommended Settings as written by user Markswift2003 - but no success. I have HDR, but DV is not working. I tried multiple files, that are playing DV without issue directly trough TV player, but on Zidoo no DV is available.

Appreciate the feedback and sorry I did not see your reply until now. I had sent another email to Anthem support on January 8th 2025 and they just replied March 28th :) almost 3 months later with the email at the end of this post. Before this email and after my previous post here I started to get a new issue :) While watching a movie with my JVC Projector the resolution would change from 1080p to 4k and visa versa, sometimes 5 times while watching a movie causing an annoying handshake(even interrupting 3D, changing it to 2D). I did notice that my TV was set to output #4 which is 4k 144Hz instead of the 4k 120 output that I guess I should be using as I use 4k 120 with my Xbox on my TV so I thought maybe the 144Hz was causing issue and switched it to the 4k 120. Right now I have removed the second output from the Anthem and just use the one (switching back and forth from the TV to the Projector) to see if it is the two outputs causing all of this. Things have been pretty good but I still did get a couple no signal issues when switching to a certain input on my Anthem. I have since purchased the Zidoo Z9x Pro and am about to start using the dual outputs once again....If things go poorly I would try your solution but I would require one of the outputs from the splitter to be 2.1 for my Xbox on the TV, so instead of the splitter you use I guess I would need the 2.1 version here, can you tell me if this would work? https://www.amazon.ca/Splitter-Supports-Downscaler-Ninten-do-Blu-ray/dp/B0C99FX5JV if this would not work then the 800.00 dollar VRRoom 8k should, but I don't want to spend that much. Thanks

    "Hello John,

Likely what you are experiencing is being caused by the lack of HDMI handshaking which is typically caused by an error with the EDID negotiation between the source device(s) and the display(s) in use. When integrating a unit in between that has no video processing (such as our receivers) the source(s) and display(s) need to report the same EDID value in order for the handshake to complete.

Please ensure the following settings are matching on the sources and ALL connected displays (and are not set to Auto negotiate):
    1. Resolution supported (1080P, 4K30, 4k60/UHD etc.)
    2. HDR/Dynamic Range (HDR 10, HDR 10+, Dolby Vision etc.)
    3. EDID Mode (Projectors, typically labelled as A, B, C and relate to the supported resolution)"

Good to know there is a fix, but I would need the 800.00 device for the 2.1 capabilities. Thanks for the heads up.

Hello I am not sure on your model of Sony but typically only 2 of the hdmi ports will support Dolby
on mine its hdmi3 and hdmi4 you need to go into the settings on the Sony, find external input settings and set hdmi format to enhanced
Your menu settings may differ but should be able to find them in your manual
You don't need a custom edid set everything back to auto on the zidoo

Zidoo is connected to the receiver not to the TV. I don't understand what TV HDMI ports have to do with this issue. Receiver is connected to the TV trough eARC. Everything is set as it should be, but there is no DV.

I tried custom EDID - SONY-8000H from the menu and now DV is working as it intended.

As an attachment is my EDID, where DV is not working.

The EDID explains it - it doesn't support DV.

The problem with using a custom EDID for a TV that supports DV is that you can't use any old EDID - the colour primaries in the Dolby Block need to match those of the TV otherwise colours are off and the luminance values need to match the TV otherwise the tone mapping is off. How far off depends on how far off the primaries and luminance values in the EDID are from the TV capabilities.

Your receiver is a 2022 Denon so it definitely supports DV so that means the HDMI port on the TV connected to the Denon isn't advertising DV support and hence no DV - as @Rainer says, probably a setting in the TV.

Thank you!!! This was the case! I have PS5 connected too and TV didn't switch the mode... Instead of Enhanced DolbyVision, signal format was on Enhanced VRR. When I switched off the VRR, everything works just fine!
    Thanks again!

In my experience the Ezcoo splitter with Z9X does not work, especially with DV, sent back to Amazon
