how is that going to work. The projector doesn’t support it. You need an he fury device

A lot of projectors can be manually switched into their HDR mode - so you output LLDV in BT.2020, apply a BT.2020 colour profile, an ST.2084 gamma and bingo!

Hey Mark, the built-in BT.2020 LLDV edid is not working. This attached is the edid of the UHD3000 connected to my uncle's Benq 4K HDR10 video projector

There's no reason the built in EDID wouldn't work, so I suspect you're doing something wrong somewhere.

Attached is the BenQ EDID with LLDV added, but bear in mind what @robl45 said above - he didn't think there's a way to manually switch Benq projectors into HDR mode.

Also, that EDID does not have any audio codecs specified (other than stereo PCM) - I assume that was grabbed connected straight to the projector.

Hey Mark, you were right, the integrated edid worked great. I don't know why it didn't work initially but after restarting the zidoo everything worked perfectly. We set VS10 only for SDR and Dolby Vision content. In native Dolby Vision content the classic Dolby Vision logo appears on the top left while in SDR content the VS10-DV logo appears. Thanks anyway for the edid! You're always great Mark!!

That's not right with my BenQ W5700. It handles HDR10 switched without a HDFury device unless you're connecting (switcher mode) another display as TV to the same system.
You've to workaround with the settings.

What settings and tone mapping has resulted in the best picture quality for JVC projectors?

    For HDR
    For DV

No HD Fury, just the Zidoo and the projector.
I am trying to decide which path to take with the EDID settings and where the tone mapping is being done.

@Markswift2003 - hey Mark - is there a hack to force the DR range to output 4.2.2 (or 4.2.0) in 23.976 4k HDR mode instead of the player forcing ( for some unknown reason to me, at least) 4.4.4?

It does not seem to matter what I set my color preferences at, HDR is always 4.4.4

All LG OLED's will not display a 4.4.4 image at 4.4.4, rather it downscales it, unless the panel is switched to PC mode.

I guess it comes from the fact that no video is 4.4.4, only computer graphics.

I would be interested in this response as I'm currently fiddling with these settings for my LG OLED too via my UHD8000

You certainly can't output 4:2:0 in 23~30Hz as HDMI doesn't support - Not sure about forcing 4:2:2 (which is).

I'm away from home today but will take a look at this later - possibly an EDID change...

I very much doubt you'll see a difference in the picture though.

You should be able to do it on the 8000 - the colour settings behave better than the DR series!

If possible, that would be useful - using an LG OLED, i'd prefer to have the least conversion steps.

    Cheers Mark.

Ok - post your EDID and I'll see if I can get it to work.

Thanks Mark, and, even if you can't do it, thanks for trying.

    Try this EDID and set:

    Display/Color Settings/4K 50~60Hz: Priority YUV420 10BIT
    Display/Color Settings/4K 23~30Hz: Priority YUV422 12BIT
    Display/Color Settings/Non-4K: Priority YUV422 12BIT

Thanks Mark - will try now and feedback.

Update - works perfectly! thanks so much - it's fixed an issue I have been having with the LG with a 4.4.4 feed - chroma noise (not to be confused with grain).

Thanks again Mark, now all my HDR rips are pristine, and I can now let the zidoo do the sub 4k upscaling, rather than the panel.

The only odity is that that 4k HDR and 1080p upscaled by the zidoo is playing at 8bit according to the amp and the tv, even though 4.2.2 12bit is selected, although the zidoo info button says 12bit - must be some reporting issue on the amp and Tv, as I've ran several banding tests, and all good.

The other thing to feedback is, and I can't put my finger on why/how, but whites seems whiter, so now skin tones are more natural, rather than someone looking like that have been sat in the sun for too long....without knowing what changes had been made, even the wife picked up on it.

    Go figure.

Very interesting - Some TVs don't handle 4:4:4 very well but I'd have assumed LG were fine with it.

But as you surmised, rest assured that the signal is 12-bit 4:2:2 and not 8-bit despite what the amp and TV say.

12-bit 4:2:2 is an odd format in that it uses the same bandwidth as 8-bit 4:2:2. However, 8-bit 4:2:2 isn't a legal HDMI mode so the Zidoo simply cannot output it.

But because the bandwidth of the two is the same, for some reason some displays and amps interpret it incorrectly and will show 8-bit, even though that's not possible.

My Denon 7200 actually just refuses to show bit depth at 4:2:2, but it's easy to confirm with an HDFury:
