Hi, i bought the new Zidoo Z9X Pro.
I found some bugs on the new Zidoo Z9X Pro with Firmware v1.0.48_G.
All this three bugs working on the old Zidoo Z9X with Firmware v6.4.62_G correctly.

1. HDMI-CEC
When i switch on the HDMI-CEC with the only option "Media Player controls AVR volume" than working the volume control function fine. The only bug is when i turn off my AVR Receiver, that will be return to turn on after a second?!



2. Color Settings
My Display settings:

Playback/Automatic frame rate/Frame rate mode: Match frame rate
Display/Resolution: 3840x2160p 50Hz
Display/Color Settings/4K 50~60Hz: Priority YUV422 12BIT
Display/Color Settings/4K 23~30Hz: Priority YUV444 12BIT

In GUI have i the following default settings "3840x2160p 50Hz YUV422 12BIT" when i start the 4k movie with 23,96.or 24Hz than switch the display to the correct frame rate the color settings was not change.
The color settings must be change to YUV444 12Bit when the frame rate drop to 23Hz or 24Hz, that is not working.


3. Chapter
I stream a movie with a jellyfin client (set to external player).
I found a problem with the chapters on streaming, i can't jump the chapters forward or backward. After playing 30~40% of the movie, than can i jump forward or backward.

 

Has not made any difference for me still no samba server I still only see recycling bin on all my drives all work fine on my Z10 Pro and my X9

 

1. CEC is the wok of the devil and should never be used.

It's the same as the older players, MKV shows the language, MP4 does not:

 

1.0.48 installed (z9x pro):
- test playing 4k Dune (2021) MKV file from server via NFS has periodic stuttering in the picture.......matching res and frame rate ie in this case 24 fps......other files the same......v22 was fine.
- still cant see that the JVC NX9 is 3d capable....none worked .22, .45 and now .48

 

I have the same problem, on my old z9x all movie directories are showing up. On the z9x pro...nothing.
if I copy new files via Samba, they are also displayed. But not all of the ones I copied with the older z9x.

 

I don't usually comment on network issues but in this case I'll just say use SMB.

As for 3D - yes, confirmed - for some reason 3D is not reported correctly in the EDID section, either custom or external, so will pass this on.

Can you confirm whether 3D works or not despite this.

 

quick question...
-z9x, connected 4x USB, proper names: WD, Seagate 3,4,5.
-z9xPro, SMB, found z9x, but names for the discs are all numbers.
why?

and... some files, only few, are also named wrong. I corrected them on my iMac.
also, the same wrong name for the USB drives via iMac/Network.

 

Connected by USB you're seeing the volume information but over the network you're seeing a network folder within a share and for whatever reason (probably an Android thing) you can't edit the allocated network folder name.

Not sure about the filenames - maybe illegal characters in the name?

 

I started with SMB but like others I had trouble with it ie I use UNRAID server and it has SMB2/3 but we couldn't get the Z9XP to connect to it no matter what we tried until we turned NetBios on in the UnRaid Server (SMB1.0 I guess)....then it connected fine.....but am not happy having it on. NFS worked first go. Will go back to SMB and see if stutter exists.......but am OS right now and it will have to wait for when I get back.

As far as 3D - no it doesn't see edid having 3d capability and hence it plays the 3d MKV as 2d......if I force 3d playback it's pretty ugly so I think it's fudging it. So in short no it's a bust.

I think the forum entry for the beta firmware is for reporting bugs?
The problem described is an error, how it is then categorized by the manufacturer or when it is fixed is of course up to him.
But I can't find a solution to say that you shouldn't use the function in general.

Yes, of course when i came from a lower default frame rate for example 23Hz then working my settings correctly see test 4.
The only problem is the GUI is with 23Hz slowly!
I think the problem is only when your default frame rate higer then 50Hz and the color settings higer then YUV420 by default!

I think its not a Jellyfin problem.
Your link to the modificated version is outdated and to buggy.
The original Jellyfin Android TV Version 15.11 is working nearly perfect with MKV 576p,720p,1080p,4K,4K HDR, 3D and all audio formats and Subtitles (only in container) in streaming with the zidoo internal player.
Not working is BDMV and ISO's.
All functions from Jellyfin GUI Resume/Replay and jump to chapter over the GUI is working correctly with all the formats described.
Only since Z9X Pro i have problems with chapter on zidoo internal player after the stream is running.
On the Zidoo Z9X is that problem not available with same Jellyfin Server/Client Version!!
I have try for example Emby with Z9X Pro and settings to internal zidoo player, that have many bugs from gui to zidoo player is not usable in my opinion.
But the chapter bug is also identical here!

As you can see in my screenshot in the post above, it recognizes the number of chapters. So I'm surprised that this only works after a runtime of 30~40%.
In my opinion, Jellyfin is an enrichment for the Zidoo Player and already works very well.
Maybe you should reconsider the support for this?!

 

Ok - just wanted to check - I don't use 3D but I can see if the signal is frame packed using the Vertex and on the Pro it isn't. I checked a Z9X and although, again, the EDID info shows no 3D support, it will in fact send an FP signal so 3D works on that.

I've sent a message to the devs - I seem to remember a similar problem in the early Z9X days.

 

Set like this and it'll all work perfectly (EDID allowing):

I have exactly the same problem, all was fine on the old Z9X.

 

The problem is you're asking for it to set an illegal HDMI mode.

10-bit 4:2:2 does not exist - it's not a legal HDMI mode, you can only have 12-bit in 4:2:2.

I've asked the devs many times to remove the illegal HDMI modes (422 8-bit, 422 10-bit) because it just confuses people.

4:2:2 overrides the priority and I don't know if that's by design or not but it doesn't really matter - if you set it correctly, it all works fine.
