Could you confirm to us when you will have changed the ROM files in the flash tool section, to solve the current issue raised to you by Futeko? That could be helpful to have the information.

Could it be possible that this issue also exists for the recent production of Z10 Pro and maybe the Z9x, as some users has reported the same problem in the past weeks when they tried to flash their player?

What's the issue?

 

We became aware of this last week.

The Z9X emergency flash image (6.3.92 install.img) works for all Z9X, so no problem.

The Z10 Pro and Z1000 Pro emergency flash images (6.0.22 install.img) on Zidoo's website do not work for more recent production. Installing them will result in the box sticking on HELLO at next boot.

Zidoo have provided us with updated versions which work with all hardware:

We asked Zidoo to update their website with the new images. I presume they will do it soon.

 

Oh wow, that's really bad!

 

Saw a few reports of troubles with recovery. This is as bad as it can get.

 

It's only the emergency firmware image (not the regular firmware) for 2 players and it is recoverable simply by flashing the correct image. It could be much worse.

The nightmare scenario is a firmware release permanently bricking a product with it affecting thousands. Thankfully this has never happened to us!

 

And for now, the updated versions don't replace the old ones on the Zidoo's website yet. Still the 6.0.22 recovery images for both players.

PS: And what about the UHD3000 (v6.1.05)? Is it ok for this one?

 

Yes, UHD3000 and all other models have no problem. It is only Z10 Pro and Z1000 Pro.

 

Not knowing what was happening this was the feeling that customers trying were getting. Not as bad as a permanent brick but the feeling must have been just that.
How to know the difference if you don't find a newer one?

 

In my experience, generally, if the display hangs on "Hello" it's recoverable, if it hangs on "..Up" it's not (without rewriting the Eprom which is a royal PITA).

 

Almost 3 weeks later and and the emergency flash images have not been replaced with the proper ones for the Z1000 Pro and the Z10 Pro in the flash tool section of the official website.

This is not serious.
