Then you’ve found a bargain. The cheapest that I can see is £31 on Amazon. They were £44 and out of stock when I purchased - these things go up & down like yo-yo’s, but I’m very happy with £25 and a 1-year warranty.

It seems pci 3.0 has been replaced by 4.0 because of bugs. has anyone tried with pci 4.0 version for the internal drive for the DMP A8?

I don't know what you actually mean with "bugs" but the new 4.0 PCI Express standard is backward compatible with the 3.0 version. Indeed you can install a gen 4 SSD in the A8 but you're going to pay more for something that you'll not be able to utilise at its full performance anyway, potentially with an higher power draw and consequent higher operating temperature. That said, gen 3 SSDs are still quite popular and available at the usual marketplaces. Even the DRAM-less modules are more than enough for the scope (e.g.: Western Digital Green and Blue lineup).

Well not bugs maybe but I did read about read/write congestion somewhere.
I’m in Thailand and searching everywhere from here to HK and can’t find any 3.0 in 4tb. Max I found was 2tb. My DSD library is over 2tb.
Now using an 8 tb my book network drive but it has a short delay when navigating the library.

BTW can the A8 play gapless? If so how?

    Just play tracks on it.
If you still notice a small delay between them it can be the related to the network speed.
If playing from streaming services it could be either network speed, or the service itself not offering the gapless properly.

  6. How much space do you have when looking from a PC over samba? I have a 2 TB Kingspec m2 and it shows only 1.3 TB

    I bought this one:
    Crucial P3 2To M.2 PCIe Gen3 NVMe SSD
Installed out of the box in the DMP A6, formatted by DMP A6 operating system in NTFS.
    Works great!

I had the same experience with the Crucial P3 M.2 PCIe Gen3 NVMe 4TB SSD. The DMP-A6 recognised the drive immediately and I chose NTFS as the formatting option. :)
My only problem is I only have about 240GB of free space left after transferring all my existing music over to it.

Need to look when I am back home in a week, but 1.3 GByte reported by SMB looks a bit low to me.
It is formatted NTFS and not FAT32?

Do you happen to know, what File Format is used by the Eversolo? ExFAT?? NTFS???...

It should support FAT32, ExFAT and EXT3/4 (but to format in the latter 2 you'll need to use a Linux PC)
Although I see people having it formatted by the A6 itself to NTFS (which I struggle to believe...)

I can confirm the DMP-A6 formatted my Crucial P3 M.2 NMVe 4TB SSD without hesitation to NTFS. On the other hand it didn't seem to want to play the game formatting the same drive to ex-FAT which is one of the DMP-A6 default options. I can't verify if this a drive specific issue. I just opted for the least difficult route.
I don't have an external enclosure for my SSD nor a compatible slot inside my Windows based PC so formatting it within the DMP-A6 was my only option.

What Android version is the A6 running on? ExFAT should be an option, but FWIK it is supported from Android 13. Only sporadically on some devices running previous versions.
    Just curious, that is.

I think A6 is Android 11 but I’m not sure if it is visible anywhere.

I noticed this on the A8 when setting up Audials Play - not sure if this means the A8 is Android 9?

This may explain why it couldn't format to ExFAT... weird nevertheless...

No, that's the release of the app that you'll be downloading for you Android device (the A8)

    Thank you Nutul!
But afaik you do not need a Linux PX for formation ExFAT. I have done this several times with my Win-PC.

    I was referring to the latter 2 FSs - EXT3 and EXT4.
Of course ExFAT is now recognized by almost every OS since Microsoft released it to the public domain several years ago...

Meanwhile i have feedback from the german Zidoo/Eversolo Support.
They recomended to use NFTS or FAT32.

That is the OFFICIAL recomendation from the manufacturer. It might still be that other formats work as well.

Third party partition managers can format a drive with EXT2, EXT3 and EXT4 within Windows. No need for Linux. EaseUS and Paragon Hard Disk Manager can do that.

The A6 by formatting proposes either exFAT or NTFS and doesn't recognize any of the EXT partitions. In fact it says Unknown and proposes to format it.

P.S. I tested with a USB drive. I can't say whether EXT would be recognized with the internal M2 slot....I doubt it though

It then depends on the "restricted" Android installed; because Ext4 is the default Linux filesystem, and being Android a nice suit upon a Linux body I expect it to be recognized. At least so was when I last used Android (with a trick to expand its internal memory to the sdcard...) and it was 2011 or 2012...
Probably the eversolo has its Android stripped of every filesystem but FAT32 and NTFS (which is, anyway, pretty acceptable to me, being the two recognized by all the major OS-es... how do we say... two birds with one stone?
