Do i need to format it in the computer before installed the ssd to our eversolo? Or i can format directly in our eversolo? Thanks
If you have the latest software you should able to do it in the Eversolo. How many Tb’s.. Mine was fine at 2Tb Kingston…
I think the going method is if the A6 don't detect the SSD, then format it before install. In my case, it detect it and format it subsequently.
Wouldn't NAS" SSDs be a good choice given my listening habits, which include listening to music for very long periods of time? e.g. WD Red SN700 NVMe SSD
Speaking of consumer products, the so called NAS SSDs are actually meant for caching for the actual storage, generally mechanical, disks rather than real storage themselves. In the case of a device like the DMP-A6 the use of a NAS oriented SSD would be overkill, more expensive but primarily out of scope. The use of an SSD in the case of a device like the DMP-A6 is basically for archiving rather than operational. For this main reason what you would ideally want is a reliable and power efficient SSD, which translates in a cooler running and therefore longer lasting component. Even a dram-less unit will be fine in the normal use and the only time when you can really check the difference is during bulk data transfer, which will be zeroed if done after the drive is installed anyway. That is, in a situation like the DMP-A6 the internal drive is stressed less than in the cheapest Windows based laptop and it will most likely outlive the life of the hosting device. Definitely the use of an SSD in such kind of device is very basic. My suggestion is to look for a reputable brand drive with the size of your need with an eye on the factory warranty and the MTTF (mean time to failure) value. No real need for a top performer or best in class endurance figures. If you ask me, the Western Digital green and blue lineup are a very good cost effective place to look into for starting.
I went with the 2TB version of that when it was on offer at £44. Too good to miss. It's working fine.
Ok - i will try WD Blue SN570 NVMe 2TB - ( 900TBW) hope it will do a good job. - i will report soon. delivery of Streamer tomorrow: hifistudio79 in the netherlands got them in stock
Much more important than the 900 TBW, which you will never reach in the context of the DMP-A6 even in 10 life times, with 1,5 million hours MTTF and 5 years warranty you're definitely on the safest side for your scope. I myself acquired a 1 TB. SN550 to use as an archive / secondary drive in my laptop and I can confirm that after more than one year it has proved to be a very reliable and cool running unit. Good luck!
I bought it direct from AliExpress in China - I took the view that any pre-installed spyware would struggle to run on an Android based platform! Available for £53 still now at
So: The device is here and I am really impressed. Unfortunately, the cover tray for the SSD cannot be opened (at least not without using force): There is no recess (apart from the hole for the screw). The cover is as tight as if it were glued on. I don't want to insert a blade into the tiny gap to exert leverage. Has this happened to anyone else? And how did you solve it (literally)?
If you have a strong adhesive tape (like the so called American tape) at hand you can try to stick it to the opening port and lift it up.
Seem to remember it was tight so I rammed something pointy into the screw hole and it popped right out...
