There was a TMDB scraping issue - I think their API key expired, but I'm not sure - anyway, that resulted in a new version of HT that has a few, er, issues... but it had to be rolled out over all boxes, and the 1295 release isn't stable so we're awaiting another update.

I start to watch a series, like Dexter yesterday, and see that it's full dropp, the picture skips.
I have to restart 2-3 times and then it's fine.
It's like the CPU is overloaded and the encoder can't handle the video properly.
    What could be the cause?

This is a bug in the developers' minds, they've done something really wrong, it's been over a month and they can't fix it.

The only stuttering I experience is with series in Dolby Vision. To fix this, while playing, use the mobile app to change the Dolby Vision option and return it to its previous state, and the stuttering disappears. Another problem with series is that they sometimes start at 60Hz. I don't experience any issues with movies.

Yesterday I watched Nosferatu (2024) 2160p HDR, DV P7. During the movie I had to reboot the mediabox twice to stop the stuttering. Stopping and restarting the movie did not help. Stuttering also occurs on SDR content, but less frequently, about one file out of three and can stop on their own. Also, on the latest firmware I have such a phenomenon as scattering of pixels (does not repeat if you rewind), on about one file out of three. Video freezing with continued sound on the latest firmware has completely disappeared.

You have to set a Custom EDID up ,which will 90 percent fix the issue (carry over bug from the previous model range )

Occassionaly the box will lose your current settings (when first starting or after finishing watching something and box hdmi handshakes back to menu system UI

Basiclly its ,Set desired settings ,then go to Custom EDID in Graphics . turn on EDID and save current EDID to a location ..I use the download folder on the internal storage when it pops up to choose .Then go and choose the saved EDID as desired EDID to use from the list
(done from mem so may not be 100 percent on it ,but it will get you started ...there is a Post on main page explaining it better )

I see it usually when im watching something like the AI 4K Original Doctor Who series im watching atm ,cos it shows up more when VS10 is missing from them and 1080p 60 is showing at start

More an annoyance bug ,but 95 percent stopped once you set your EDID

Thanks, I'll try. For now I fix it by stopping playback and restarting.

It didn't work, it keeps playing at 60hz randomly. Only in series.

In Auto Framerate in settings try turning it off
You may have it set to match framerate and so on some tv epis you may find theyre 60hz

That ,or custom EDID wasnt actually set

This may have been said before. I got the impression that most users who encountered stuttering on the AMLogic S928X were using LG TVs.

Not necessarily. I get stuttering on my Sony X950H.
For me, I experience it seemingly exclusively with web-DL content. Typically, DV/DD+Atmos content. Media frame rate seems irrelevant, and re-encoding makes no difference.
S02E01 of The Last of Us was so bad I had to switch to Jellyfin app on the TV to get through it.
I've yet to experience stuttering with physical media rips.
    So weird.

You hit the nail on the head. I just "watched" this episode. After the stuttering at the very beginning and rebooting the media box, S02E01 The Last of Us HDR, DV Profile 8 did not want to start from the same place. Reboots did not help. I had to reboot again, run a completely different file and only then was I able to play the episode of The Last of Us again. I managed to watch it to the end, I put up with the stuttering, since it was not so frequent anymore. I already installed VLC Player in anticipation of the next episode

Truthfully, the reason I haven't been more vocal/outraged on this forum about this issue is because I can play physical media rips without issue.
While I do watch web-DL content often (not with much success ATM, ;)), I'm not going to cry foul over content I haven't paid for, and should be watching via legitimate means.

I confirm, there are no errors in TLOU.
2 people confirmed stuttering and lags. I was sure that now I would see. No, there are no lags or stutters on my player and TV. I played and downloaded all the problematic moments that were discussed on the forum and could not repeat this error
