Say, z9x 8k... tried kodi, and zdmc , when stopping a movie in zidooplexmod its kicking me back to the zidoo home screen, pot of zidooplexmod, and out of either kodi or zdmc as well.

Has anyone else ran into this and is there a way to stay in the plex interface??
(New z9x 8k, was gone a few weeks so playing with it more now... thanks.. my z9x I had to change running apps or something to correct)

It shouldn't do that unless the zidoo player is crashing(which has been known to happen). I don't have a Z9X 8k so I don't know for sure but I don't remember hearing others have that issue. On the Z9X you had to go into developer mode and change the number of background tasks. That changed in the Z9X Pro and I was thinking that on the Z9X 8K line you can't get to developer mode to change it if you wanted to. Does it happen with all your media or just some?

    Hey, thanks for the reply...
Was happening after everything I watched one day, then was good the next day... might have been something crashing in the background for some reason.. stock, older firmware last version, not the latest...

I'll keep an eye on it, and see if it acts right... lol. Thanks again for an awesome job you do!

In PlexToZidoo, is the absolute path I'm putting in a LAN path? I'm trying to use my Zidoo for Plex outside of my house and I'm wondering if this is even possible with this software.

This only works with local content. The zidoo player doesn't support plex streams.

Would you please update the GitHub description to clear that out? I was about to install the G version and change my setup but decided to dwell in this conversation just in case. Thank you for your work in here.

Apologies if this has been answered already, but is there any way to stop the subtitles from automatically starting when playing anything? I've looked everywhere, but can't find how to turn this off.

Subtitles are selected based on the settings in the Plex Server first. That can be overridden by the zidooPlexMod client. And then finally the zidoo player itself can override everything else. So it's quite complicated. I would first start by looking at a movie in the zidooPlexMod client and see if the subtitle stream is automatically selected. But make sure it's not a movie you've already changed the subtitle stream on because that gets saved and will be the default from then on. If one is selected that you don't want then it's probably a server side setting that would need to change. If no subtitle is selected then it's probably a zidoo player setting.

Where abouts would this settings be? I'm not seeing anything here. And it's not likely a server setting as I don't get auto subs on any other devices (shield, ATV4k, etc).

I told you the settings are either in the Plex Server or the zidoo player ... not the zidooPlexMod settings. Did you look at a movie and see if a subtitle was automatically selected like I mentioned?

I think I misunderstood then. You said, "Subtitles are selected based on the settings in the Plex Server first. That can be overridden by the zidooPlexMod client." To me, this indicated that the settings in to Plex Server first could determine this, then, they (the settings) could be in overridden by the zidooPlexMod.

In fact, that's still how I read what you said. However, based on your reply, I'm assuming that's not the case. I'll look for the zidoo player settings directly.

Yes, I've checked the movie settings. I played content that was never played on the Zidoo box (nor any other device). And as mentioned above, I can play these movies on my Shield Pro, or ATV4k, and no subtitles are defaulted to on. But they are always defaulted on w/ the Zidoo. Thus, that's where I was trying to focus my search.

I know I had previously checked the Zidoo's main subtitle settings for this, but I'll review again to see if I missed anything.

Ok, I can see how my statement wasn't super clear about how the client can override the settings. What I was trying to say was that the user can manually override the Plex Server defaults in the zidooPlexMod client. So let me be clear, there are no settings in zidooPlexMod that automatically pick a subtitle. zidooPlexMod asks the Plex Server for the default subtitle stream and sends that to the zidoo player. So if there isn't anything automatically selected on the video selection page that would indicate that the Plex Server isn't the one automatically selecting the subtitle. Then you would have to look at the zidoo settings to see if it's subtitle picking logic is coming into play. Either way it's not something that zidooPlexMod is doing, nor are there any settings to influence that decision making(other than the user manually selecting a subtitle stream).

Hello, I have been having a heck of a time trying to get this all set up. I have a Z9X 8K and now that I realize I can't use the native Plex client with PlexToZidoo (still not sure why) I am trying to set up ZidooPlexMod. When I try to install ZDMC 20.2 I get a Google Play protect warning that states that it was made for an older version of Android and doesn't have the proper privacy protections. It shows an option to install anyway but doesn't let me select it. I assume this is my fault as I had previously installed the "G" variant of the latest 1.2.35 firmware thinking I needed to do this to get the Plex app to work.

I got a version of ZDMC 21 which installs, and I got ZidooPlexMod installed but once I sign into my plex account all I see is a black screen with just the time and my account name at the top. I've seen in this thread that ZDMC 21 has issues so maybe this is why this is happening. I'd love to use ZDMC 20.2, but for the aforementioned Google Play issue. I know I can't revert to the non G version of the firmware, right? Am I out of luck? Really hoping to get the best of both plex and zidoo with this great software you guys have made. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Alright, made some progress! I used the mouse mode on the Zidoo to click the button to allow the installation of ZDMC 20.2 despite the google play warning. Now I am having issues installing ZidooPlexMod. The first time it tied to install I got a message from ZDMC about a version check stating that I was using 20.2 even though there was a stable version of 21. All I could do was click OK so I did. Now I don't get this message but ZidooPlexMod fails to install due to a failed dependency (requests). I have tried installing 0.4.1 and 0.4.0 with the same outcome.

Ok, new day and I have uninstalled/reinstalled ZDMC 20.2 and now got ZidooPlexMod 0.4.1 installed with no issues. Unfortunately I am back where I started with getting a black screen after signing in to Plex. Not sure what to do from here. My plex server is running fine on the same network as the Zidoo. I have my PMS set to prefer not require secure connections and even have it set so devices on my LAN don't need to authenticate. Any help would be great as it seems like I am close here.

It could be a dns rebind issue.

    https://forums.plex.tv/t/pm4k-plexmod-for-kodi-18-19-20-21-22/481208/3248
Either add plex.direct to your router’s DNS rebind protection exemption list, or go to PM4Ks AddonSettings (outside of PM4K, long press the icon, Settings, System, uncheck both “plex.direct: Honor …” settings, then start PM4K again; then it should prompt you that it has found plex.direct domains that it wants to add to your advancedsettings.xml confirm that, restart CE, happy camper).

    Hello,
I need some help after migrating all of my files to a new Plex server. I'm having an issue setting up the smb substitution and getting the substitution error whenever I play anything.
My old server was hosted on a Synology and both the media storage and Plex server itself was on it, it seemed relatively simple to set up the smb to the Zidoo because of this.
My new setup I have 2 separate NASes storing all my media files each with its own IP address and SMB share that then are mapped to a Windows PC which is running the Plex server.
Now I can't figure out how to get PlexToZidoo working again. I'm guessing the issue is that the Plex Server is pointed at the network drives mapped in the windows filesystem and so when I enter the smb address directly from the NAS it's getting confused.
Any help on how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

If I'm understanding you correctly you have this situation:
\\NAS1\share1 is mapped to windows drive D:
\\NAS2\share2 is mapped to windows drive E:
If that's the case then you'll have to setup two substitution entries in the PlexToZidoo app. One for each windows share. So it would look something like this
"Part of path to replace" = D:
    "Replaced with" = smb://192.168.xxx.xxx/share1
    and
"Part of path to replace" = E:
    "Replaced with" = smb://192.168.yyy.yyy/share2
Remember Plex is passing ZidooPlexMod/PlexToZidoo the windows drive path because that's how it accessess the data. You're trying to match the windows drive path and replace part of it with the direct smb path.

Amazing, thanks that did it. I even had that thought but I put in the leading "/" before "D:" in the path replace field. I've got everything working now.

    For anyone else that comes across this in the future that might have the same question here is how I have it setup;
    - I created a second user account on both my NASes as a viewer only and made the username and password the same.
    - NAS 1 share name is Media1 mapped as N: and NAS 2 is Media2 mapped as O:
Part of Path to replace: "N:, O:"
    Replaced with: "smb://192.168.xxx.xxx/Media1, smb://192.168.xxx.xxx/Media2"
    Username: "username"
    Password: "password"
