Plex client for Zidoo devices - ZidooPlexMod

I was working with the other person over DM and after getting me the kodi log it showed that ZidooPlexMod was only sending the video once. So my conclusion was that there is some issue in the Zidoo player itself. But if you would like to reproduce(instructions are in the first post) and send me the kodi log I will be happy to take a look. Please make sure you're on the latest ZidooPlexMod and PlexToZidoo versions.

PlexToZidoo strange issue... stand alone plex unable to select movie version... say if I have different versions of the same movie, say one 1080, one 4k... or 1 hdr, one dv.. stand alone plex is not able to select the version using plextozidoo.. now the old version 9.13.03 works without issue, but any version 10 , I can't select. any thoughts, ideas ?? last I tried was kepler-armeabi-v7a-googlePlay-10.23.0.1627-f8f7bc73 all works, but i cant select movie version..(stand alone plex, like the plex app... not the stripped down plex app from zidoo)
i have zdmc with plex zidoo , as well as kodi with plex and plex zidoo. those seem to be working properly..

would turning on diagnostics or anything show what might be going on ?? possibly what path or what its requesting for the zidoo player ??
using a z9x, and if zdmc, i need to go into settings and change number of apps and stuff every time i reboot or the box crashes..

not sure if the stand alone full plex app works properly on the 8k box , (I had the stripped zidoo plex app on my z9x, but i think a server update killed that one)

I stopped supporting the official plex client long ago. It was broken starting with the Z9X Pro line because Plex stopped allowing an external player with the newer android version that the Pro line used.

 

got ya, and the zidoo official plex version is similar to the old stripped down version zidoo released ??
say on the z9x or 8k, is the recommended plex your app in zdmc or kodi ?? zdmc preferred ??

still eyeing the z9x 8k.. especially since its working good with your work..

 

I assume you're asking about the zidoo plex app that was released for the 8k lineup? I do not have the new hardware so I can't comment on it but based on what I've seen it's not going to have all of the bells and whistles that the ZidooPlexMod will have.

It should work the same in both ZDMC and Kodi but I only ever use/test with ZDMC.

 

FYI, I decided to upgrade my Z9X with the _G version. I tested something. I uninstalled the my sideloaded Plex and decided to install the latest from the google store directly.

Once started, I reconfigured the login and as expected, it was not in tv mode. I was able to configure the external player without problem and then I switched to tv mode. Everything is working well!

 

say, any chance you have 2 versions of say the same movie, possibly a 4k and 1080, really makes no difference... just anything that gives the option to select the version...
if so, are you able to select the version and it plays the correct version selected ??

also, just to confirm, you are using the built in zidoo player with play store plex version on the z9x ??

Ok I just test it. I usually have 2 separate libraries for 4K and 1080p but I copied a file to have 2 versions in the same folder.

I confirm I use the built in zidoo player using PlextoZidoo with the play store plex version.

Plex sees the 2 different versions of the movie but it DOESN'T work. No matter which version I choose, only the first one is played (4k in my case). So I have 2 version. First choice is 4k, second is 1080p. I chose 1080p but the 4k is played.

I was seeing the same behavior with sideloaded version without the G firmware...
the old plex 9.13 i think it is, is able to select the version... so I stick with that version for a stand alone, or use zidooplex in kodi or zdmc
got excited for a minute a newer standalone might work...

A couple of months back I started having subtitle issues with ZidootoPlex, not with regular Plex. Zidoo can see embedded subtitles but nothing happens when selected anymore. I have to use the add subtitle option, browse my media and select the subtitle in the folder (I get those from Bazarr automatically). It then gets added to the subtitle list and also works.

Another issue is that external subtitle list never gets cleared when I watch a new movie. I now have 20 different eng external subtitles.

Anyone else seen this? How to solve?

 

That sounds like your substitutions aren't working and it's playing the HTTPS stream instead of having direct access to the file. Turn on the debug page for PlexToZidoo and see if it shows an error about not finding a substitution.

The downloading subtitle feature is in the native Zidoo player so ZidooPlexMod/PlexToZidoo don't have any control over that. I've never used that feature so I'm not sure if that's normal or not.

 

Thanks mate. I didn't think of it before but I added a new HDD to my Nas. I must of course update the substitution path then. It should be solved afterwards.

Ah okay! I am not downloading but using the add subtitle option (Bazarr downloads), but it might have the same issue.

 

I struggled all day with this using nfs ( possibly unnecessary but I was curious as I got it to work with the jellyfish version from andy)

As you may imagine like many, i picked up plex pass over black friday ( usa sale @ $90 Lifetime)

I followed the instructions, or thought i did. I may have been trying to make things work on the zdmc 20.1 version, It would not work. So i updated to 20.2 but not before uninstalling zdmc completely, and deleting the apk for zidoo plex mod that is required)

Here is where it gets interesting,, i did not do anything, its mapping two plex servers one local and one remote with directplay. I didnt fill in any paths or substitutions. It working as mapped from in docker.

on my docker install i have mounts to not only local nas mounts but also fstab mounts to other boxes with media content using both nfs to a synology box, as well as smb to windows share.

Now i used the media center ( i call it file explorer) on the zidoo and confirmed all the nfs shares were there as well as log in to the smb share on an old windows e8500 core due that has some media shares on it.

I can confirm direct play, with zidoo gallery3d player (z1000 Pro) (z9x) for both video / audio. Not seeing any transcodes in either plex log / or Tautilli .

How can this be if I didnt use the zidoo for plex mod to make redirects path substitution.

Did the mod get smart and just learn the existing zidoo nfs / smb paths. Btw, in the debug for the mod it shows red error for unknown path? but the purple play button works. I have not turned off debug yet. Been watching a direct play for 30 minutes now while typing this and gathering data.

Steps followed: installed 20.1 zdmc > installed addon from repository as instructed in zmdc > installed zidoo plex mod apk 3.0 latest from github via media center ( file manager) > signed into plex challenge from kodi addon, tried trailer first that are local on movie, then tried movie itself mkv remux with profile 7 dovi / atmos. All direct play. One is a local plex server, the other is a seedbox. Both directplay.

I am not complaining , just wondering why it is working without the subsitutions required. Again, I am using both nfs / and smb with the following setup

NAS with Debian 'ugreen nas' Plex with HW transcoding via intel
NAS 2 NFS share Synology
Windows Box SMB share - Windows 10
Seedbox Plex Docker w/o HW transcoding via AMD

All is directplay.

I need to get the seedbox to not directplay likely as it has some fairly large remuxes on it. What is the quickest way to do this in plex? Anyone.

One last , non related note: Plex Discovery is great but very sad its not available to managed users. Its like a box of magic I didn't expect to like so well. Ive used kodi / xmbc./xbmp since the xbox og, I see the appeal of plex, and the navigation seems more solid than zidoo posterwall. With that said. I am new to being a plex pass users.

I didnt think this addon was supposed to work without the path subs but it is on all plex docker mounts points.

 

This mod has always defaulted to sending the HTTPS stream directly to the Zidoo player if it can't find a path substitution. The media will usually play but not always and it won't be able to play subtitles(internal nor external).

 

Without doing anything it directplays everything so far fed to it. I guess I actually need to do the path and substitution to get it to actually transcode now since it literally will not accept any quality other than original now stating not enough cpu or resources.

I have paths and container mounts correct but it's not doing what I guess I need it to.

/volume1/media/movies:/data/movies (path mount in docker)
to nfs://ip/media/movies (path substitution)

I can get trailers to play but not the .mkv files. in same folder. It tries to transcode movie but plays trailer directplay. Any hints there?

 

What are your settings in PlexToZidoo? I'm guessing that the part to replace should be /data/movies and the replacement should be nfs://ip/media/movies.

 

yes, the text highlighted in green is what i have in there. Is that not correct? Using docker that is what I am seeing. I know those NFS mounts are reachable from the zidoo, opppo , shield etc.

Remember, with nothing entered, it direct plays everything using https via plex.

If i enter the green highlights in the Plextozidoo apk it will play trailers using gallery3d, but not errors out on the movies for some reason. saying insufficient cpu or similar error.

I find that strange since should be doing the opposite.

Do you have to export the json file in the apk at the bottom , before it takes. I dont see a save option anywhere. Just asking because on the zidoo i just click the back button or home button to get out and launch zdmc. once again.

 

I can't say I've ever seen that error. Can you post a screen shot of it? Since I have no idea how your environment is setup it's hard for me to guess what the right settings are. Can you post the PlexToZidoo debug screen, that may help point to the issue.

No, you don't need to export the settings, they are saved automatically as you enter them.
