Is there a way to watch DV Content as HDR10+ via Tone Mapping?

how do I do that? I'm guessing that I need to go to "DOWNLOAD ACTIVE EDID TABLES" and chose TX0EDID?

Edit: I read that it needs to be the RX not TX, so here's the file

Sorry - I usually provide instructions when asking for an EDID - so connect the Zidoo to the TV, if the Vertex is in line, make sure it's not using a custom EDID - I need the TV EDID and not one from the Vertex so I can see the TV's capabilities.

Then download the EDID from the Zidoo:

    To Download EDID
    ================

    Settings/Display/Custom EDID/Save EDID

Save to a USB stick or network location

Post file as attachment to forum

    Attached.
I connected the Zidoo to the TV without the Vertex in the middle.

Ok the primaries are close to DCI-P3 so you need the Dolby Block to reflect that in any custom EDID you use for the TV. That means the same EDID is being used on the projector, so you need to set the primaries to DCI-P3 in the HDR message used to spoof the projector.

Next step is to download an EDID from the Zidoo with the HDMI chain like this:

    Zidoo > Anthem > TV

That gives you an EDID with the TV's Dolby primaries and the Anthem's audio modes. Name it something sensible so you know what it does.

Then you're following that PDF but with the following changes:

Load that new EDID into the Vertex as your Custom EDID - put it in whichever custom slot you like (you can use Slot 10 to make it easy), but just remember the Vertex doesn't rename the slot (yeah, I know that's stupid! I tried to get them to change that years ago but they couldn't be arsed).

Then set your HDR message in the Vertex but instead of setting "Primaries" to "ITU-R BT.2020-2", set them to "DCI P3".

Thanks for the explanation. I'll try it when I'll get back home.

So after this change, all of my DV files (ISO/BDMV full UHD rips, remux files with different DV profiles) will use this player led LLDV with this custom EDID?
Will I lose something by not using the full DV potential on ISO/BDMV full UHD rips with tv led option on my LG TV?

No not really - there are differences in the way the RPU is handled, but only if you use TV Led Passthrough, but to be perfectly honest, without staring at test patterns until you're cross eyed, you won't see any difference at all.

There are quite a few ways to deal with this situation and as you learn how and what the Vertex does and how EDIDs work etc, you may want to experiment, but there will always need to be a compromise somewhere if you want to feed two displays with different specs, particularly when Dolby Vision is involved.

I'm getting a projector with Dolby vision support in May/June, so hopefully I won't need to use this convoluted trick for long.
