ZX9 Pro Says "Dolby Digital Plus 5.1" When Receiver Lists "Atmos?"

When I play an Atmos track on my system my receiver will correctly list it as "Atmos" but when I hit the info/pause button on the zx9 Pro it always says "Dolby Digital Plus 5.1"

Since my receiver is last in the chain behind the zx9 I'm assuming it is correct here and not the zx9? If this is just a bug in the way Atmos tracks are listed, I'm okay with that, but I just want to make sure I'm really getting the Atmos track. This happens if I set "audio" to "raw" or "auto," it doesn't make any difference.

Is this just a known bug or is there some setting I need to change in the zx9 Pro to correct it?

Atmos data can be carried in Dolby Digital Plus (E-AC3) or Dolby TrueHD (THD).

E-AC3 is lossy and generally used in broadcast where bandwidth is constrained, and THD is lossless and generally used in physical media.

The Info Screen is just giving you the high level codec - if you press the "More" button and scroll down to the Audio section you'll get more information.

Long, short and tall - yes, you're getting Atmos, but only the E-AC3 version which is a long way from the full experience of TrueHD Atmos found on BluRay discs.

    I appreciate the detailed response!
This is a digital rip I'm watching and it sounds like the problem is I need a higher quality audio rip to get TrueHD Atmos? Or are you saying that TrueHD Atmos can only really be heard with the disc itself?

Thanks for your time and sorry if the answers to my question are obvious as I am somewhat new to the world of physical media players like the Zidoo.

No - when you rip a BluRay or UHD BluRay disc with THD Atmos, the audio is ripped bit for bit and plays perfectly on the Zidoo.

Obviously depends what you're playing it through but on my system there's a massive difference between Dolby Digital Plus Atmos and TrueHD Atmos.

    Furniture moves with TrueHD ;)

Nice. I'm going to try a THD Atmos file and check it out. Thanks again for your help!
