I have trouble of viewing a film with 1.85:1 aspect ratio (open format) film correctly.
The Zidoo forces it to be shown as 2.35:1 aspect ratio. Why?
How can I view the film in the given correct format?
    Thanks for help.

Another question, if I have two files for one film Zidoo designates them A and B.
How can I change their names and in easy way get data on length, file size etc?

Can you provide a MediaInfo report?

Have a look at this for naming conventions:

    Sorry. Google auto translate
Is there a way to watch movies in 21:9 mode? when enabling 21:9 mode in settings it only works in zidoo ui

    Thank

Depends on the aspect ratio of the video. If you are watching 4k UHD or blu ray rips, then no. Those files are always 16:9, regardless of the aspect ratio of the movie. You either need to zoom in, or remove the black bars from the video file. Handbrake can do this, but it also re-encodes the file. Not sure if there is a way to do it without re-encoding.

I understand that everything is built in 16:9 mode. But I want to know can zidoo encode all content to 21:9 by itself? It's like zidoo mapping vs10 for all content

Well.... yes you can ... sort of.. there are options just for the GUI, but there are also settings for the movie display itself.. once you set it for 21:9, then you select which method want the Zidoo to actually output the content ..... with compression or screen cover, I believe? Compression obviously isn't ideal, as it most likely is going to just squish the movie output to 21:9, and mess up the movie geometry. And screen cover simply masks off the content taller than 21:9. But, I did find that screen cover mode is actually super handy for those changing aspect ratio movies, such as the latest Top Gun Maverick if you have a scope screen.

With my 2.35:1 screen, once I have my projector's zoom preset enabled, it is perfect for the majority of the movie's scenes, but when the IMAX scenes come on in their taller aspect ratio, the image spills over the top and bottom of my screen's scope zoomed display. But, when using Screen Cover in 21:9, those scenes stay displayed in my screen with no temporary distracting image spillover and the rest of the normal scope scenes are displayed as per normal. So, there is that feature I guess....

Check your projector's settings - it might have a masking option.

For example my JVC allows 3 soft mask presets which you can customise to your own requirements (I have presets for 2.35:1 and 2.20:1 to match my hardware masking).

I also set up a macro so that when I select say the 2.35 screen mask, the corresponding projector soft mask is selected too so I don't even have to know if the presentation is VAR or not.

This gets rid of the overspill for IMAX movies (the 2.20:1 is for annoying Nolan movies!).

Unfortunately, I don't believe the Epson has that type of "preset" masking feature that would tie in to the custom lens memory adjustments. It has a feature called blanking in which you can definitely adjust and apply a black mask on top, bottom or the sides... but it is only a 1 time adjustment. Otherwise that would be perfect!

Honestly, it doesn't bother me that much when the IMAX overspill occurs ... I am still engrossed enough in the movie, that the additional image just becomes part of my viewing experience! lol. And that's probably because I have enough crushed black velvet around my screen and on the very top of my center channel that it is minimized. But if I really wanted to remove that spillover from a movie the Zidoo screen cover in 21:9 mode does work well. Just a bit of a pain to toggle it On and Off in the Settings each time though.

That's a shame - it makes Nolan movies watchable :)

    Same here on my z1000pro.
Is there any way to watch IMAX movies on tv full screen without black bars (smaller than in 16:9) ?
If i turn on zoom function, faces are deformated a little.
Have Shield also, and when watching trough Kodi, no black bars in IMAX.
    Thanks for answer.

    Well, sorry to hear that.

I checked all settings in my surround amp and the projector to see if there were any wrong value.

Do not have any other good advice for you I am afraid.

When watch IMAX movies trough my Z1000pro, picture is NOT full screen (see attached pic), There are black bars up and down the TV (let say streched 16:9).
With TV and AVR settings is all ok, cause when i watch movie trough my Nvidia Shield there is normal full screen on IMAX scenes.

Depends on the aspect ratio of the content - that movie is obviously 1.85:1 instead of 1.78:1, hence the black bars.

If you post a mediaInfo report I can tell you more.
