Creating this thread to hopefully show the devs that the community is interested in an updated release of ZDMC based on Kodi 21.0 "Omega".

Omega has some cool new features, including video versions (Theatrical Cut, Director's Cut, etc.), that I'm sure ZDMC users would want to take advantage of.

Technically they discontinued ZDMC after V19, the V20.2 release isn't even listed on their website and likely wont get any more major updates.

I use ZDMC as I prefer being able to customise a skin, mange my own layouts, multiple separate libraries etc, and it is the only way I can neatly integrate both local HDD and SMB files without using a manual file browser every time.

Agreed, but I do hope we get one more updated version....

Hi, is it true that you can only use external player in zdmc when you have the movie on disk? Trying to play in Kodi with zidoo player but doesn’t work. I use streams in kodi.

Zidoo player (external player) is local media playback only.

If you want to use streaming services (particularly the questionably legal ones) within Kodi you will need to have a separate media player for it.
Zidoo is not a standard generic android TV box, it has specific video processing hardware that isn't supported by third party media player software.

Interesting that Zidoo has released ZDMC based on Kodi 21 for the new 8K models. Hopefully they will provide a version for the older models as well.

Tried on my z9x and it will not use the zidoo player for local media.. reinstalled old version, and internal works again.. I installed as an update, not sure if clean install would make it any different..

Maybe a clean install of ZDMC 21...I don't know, just a thought. Like I said, all working fine on the Z1000pro, but I had deleted 20.1 BEFORE I installed 21....don't know if that is the variable.

I use plex more with the zidoo player, since trailers, scraping, everything works well...
I'll keep an eye on the thread, to see if any other z9x peeps give it a shot.

(Easy enough to restore and backup, so might uninstall. Install the new version, and see if that gets the internal player going.. )

I actually did an upgrade from ZDMC 20.2 to ZDMC 21. Not sure if that is why it worked for me but wanted to throw that out there in case anyone else wanted to give a try.

Kodi is not supported on Zidoo devices and will not take advantage of the device's hardware based media player. You will have a terrible viewing experience trying to use official Kodi releases on Zidoo devices.

Really should be running the ZDMC fork that actually uses the dedicated hardware player if you want proper video playback support, permissions are easier too as it is a system app rather than user app.

the regular Android Kodi fork works well for multichannel music over HDMI bitstream though.
