Hello, i've an issue with my Z9X Pro on some files. The picture is constantly pumping / flickering and the movies are unwatchable like this in dolby vision. This doesn't happen with many files, but it's reproducable and i've cross-checked with other devices (Shield and Homatics Box R 4k Plus) and they don't have that problem with the same files. Tried DV player led and TV led, no difference. I can provide two 30 seconds Samples, maybe this will help to determine the issue and hopefully fix it but i can't post them here because i get the following error: Your content can not be submitted. This is likely because your content is spam-like or contains inappropriate elements. Please change your content or try again later. If you still have problems, please contact an administrator. Thanks
The Forum's system doesn't accept such file, then uploaded it to any server like Mega and post here the link.
That's exactly what i did (mega) - still it wouldn't let me post the topic with the message above, even after shortening them through tiny.url
Can you unlock it so i can post them in this topic or can i send them to you and you post them? otherwise this topic doesn't make much sense. thanks Edit: i get the same message when i try to send them via PM
If you can PM them to me I'll add them to your post above. To save you time, is one of them Saving Private Ryan by any chance?
It didn't work, same error message, even when i tried so send you the links as pictures. Maybe you can text me an E-Mail or something where this algorithm doesn't interfere.
Right, I got the samples and it's the same mastering problem as Saving Private Ryan. To be honest I couldn't see a a problem with Sample 2 but it was very obvious with Sample 1. This is to do with unwanted luminance variations in the enhancement layer that are compensated for by metadata in the RPU. So far I've only ever seen this issue with Saving Private Ryan and one more title whose name escapes me. But because the enhancement layer isn't used in these boxes, the compensation in the RPU causes the video levels to fluctuate (because there isn't anything to compensate for). This is because in the Realtek boxes the RPU is treated as Profile 7 so the metadata blocks associated with the enhancement layer are still used which normally isn't really an issue. The AMLogic boxes remove this metadata so the RPU is treated like Profile 8 which has no enhancement layer so videos such as these play fine. The only solution with such videos on the Realtek boxes is to watch in HDR10 or to remove Dolby Vision from the file with something like dovitool.
Yeah, I agree. Sucks. But I'm really curious about Land of Bad - I have that movie in DV and have no issue with it and I couldn't see a problem with the sample you sent.
For me it looks just as bad as the other one, here's a video on my LG 77G3 OLED. Even on the YT Video i think you can see what i mean...
