    I have a new AWOL 3000.

I am playing mkv files from my Nas.

When I watch a film via the ziddo player. It's says the film is 8bit instead of 10.

So installed Kodi on my Z9X PRO. I played the same file through Kodi.
And Kodi says the film is 10bit which is correct.

So it's the ziddo player causing me problems. Can and when will it be fix?

    Thank. You

This might just be your projector reporting the wrong info. As you can see in the first photo Dolby vision is being output by the zidoo, I believe Dolby vision does some kind of tunnelling via an 8 bit container but is actually 12 bit.

    I could be mistaken though.

I think this is just a common problem with yuv422 signals, the receiving device can't tell what bit depth it's running at. My LG TV reports 8 bit even when 10 or 12 bit is actually being sent. Yuv422 12bit is correct for LLDV content, so that's probably fine.

8bit RGB tunnel is slightly different and I believe it's only used for player led DV, which I'm guessing your projector doesn't support.

The one played by the ziddo player sent the wrong information (Dolby vision,)
The other picture was played via Kodi I installed on the z9x and Kodi sent the right information.

So it's the ziddo player,(player software )at fault.

No kodi output HDR10 at yuv444 10bit not Dolby vision, it's different but neither are wrong or right

    That's what I said.

Is the file you're playing DV or not? Do you have VS10 enabled in the zidoo settings? As that could be converting HDR10 to DV if you have that enabled

The projector is interpreting the signal incorrectly. 8-bit 4:2:2 and 12-bit 4:2:2 use the same bandwidth so some displays get confused, however they shouldn't because the only legal HDMI bit depth for 4:2:2 is 12-bit, so it's just bad coding in the projector.

If you use Kodi, its internal player cannot use VS10 so only uses the HDR10 layer. The Zidoo is not a Kodi box and is not designed to support it.

    It's not DV it's HDR 10

    It's not a DV file.
    It's a HDR 10 file.

The default ziddo player gets it wrong.
Were as Kodi gets it right HDR 10

    Both using the same hardware

So you probably have VS10 output DV enabled in the display settings

The only way the Zidoo can output DV for an HDR10 file is using VS10.

It's not possible to output 8-bit 4:2:2 because it's not an HDMI mode.

Your projector is just interpreting the 12-bit 4:2:2 signal incorrectly.

Either the file is DV or you are using VS10.

    Check your settings.

So there is an VS10 option in the settings on the ziddo. And I should turn it off?

    Thanks.

Display > HDR. Make sure it's set to Auto

    Thanks.

    That's set to auto

Think I will stick to Kodi on a android box or get a Nvidia shield

The only other option is the file is DV. And Kodi is just falling back to HDR10 output.

You can use media info https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo/Download and attach the output here if you want someone else to check the output.

Well Kodi can do what this default player can't.
    Even though it's basically Kodi
