Z9X Pro not Roon Ready?

I have had a Zidoo Z9X before, but I replaced it by a Media PC. I used both of them as Roon Bridges and for watching TV and movies (Home Theater/KODI).

When I heard about the Z9X pro, I decided to return to Zidoo. It arrived today and everything works fine. But it is not recognized by my Roon core, running on a Synology NAS. While on the german Zidoo website it says, that the Zidoo Z9X pro is "Roon ready", it does not say so on the international site.

I am using firmware 1.0.48_G, which I think is the newest.

Is the Z9X Pro Roon ready? If not, will it ever become Roon ready?

Jut give them some time. Certification can only start after the model being available for testing and takes its time.

Sure. In the meantime, I’m using a Raspberry Pi that I run additionally and have Ropieee installed on it. But it’s not really smart to use two units for what one alone could do.

Any update on this? I just received my Pro and was disappointed to see I can't use it with Roon. It detects as an Airplay device and doesn't receive any audio. My previous Z9X worked great with Roon.

Is this expected to be fixed soon?

    Hi all,
Some 14 months after the O.P. posted above, I am very disapoointed to have to conclude that the Z9X Pro is still not Roon Ready. I have upgraded the firmware to v. 1.0.95
I bought one last week and I can't get any music ouit of it, using Roon. The built-in Music Player 7 does give stereo sound over the HDMI output to my Denen surround receiver but multichannel files are mixed down to stereo. So no joy there. I expressly bought the Z9X Pro for mutlichannel listening using Roon and since there is no real hope that this unit will be Roon ready in the foreseeable future, I'm afraid I shall have to return it to the vendor.
Roon does recognize the Zidoo player as an endpoint but only as being "Roon Tested", upload_2024-9-30_12-27-42.png
And when I try to play some 16/44 stereo music, the signal path looks like the picture blow. Note that the Zidoo is seen as an Apple TV, connected via AirPlay streaming!

But no sound can be heard and the time indicator in the Roon player stands completely still!
I have tried all possible settings ("Auto", "LPCM 2 Channel", "RAW" and "Close") in the "HDMI audio" part of the Zidoo Z9X Pro's Quick Settings but to no avail.
And when I try a Hi-Res file, the signal path looks like this:

    HiRes multichannel (5.1):

Does anyone have tips concerning settings etc that I might have overlooked and that would perhaps help me to get this thing play multichannel music through Roon??

    Edit:
After installing the Roon for Andrroid apk on the Z9X Pro, I could finally use the Zidoo as a Roon endpoint! But... only in stereo. The Roon for Android app tends to think of its host apparatus as either a phone or a tablet en most probably for that reason assumes that only stereo is possible. Or it could very well be an Android limitation.

It's rather easy to find, you know, on the Roon download page. But to make life even easier for you, here's the direcht download link: download.roonlabs.net / builds / RoonMobile.apk (minus the spaces)

I installed the Roon Mobile apk in my Z9X 8K but the remote wasn’t able to navigate the app. It shows up in my Roon audio devices in settings but I’m not able to select it as a zone for playback.

Perhaps this is a stupid question on my part, but did you enable the device under "Audio" in the Roon Core settings?

Not a stupid question and I appreciate your trying to help me make it work.

I did enable it in audio devices. The issue I had was with the app itself. Once I installed it, clicking OK (or menu, enter, the directional buttons) on the physical and network remotes had no effect.

I got stuck on the first screen and couldn’t click the button (I think it said “get started”) to open the app beyond the first screen. Despite that, I was able to see and enable the device through Roon/Audio settings, but it doesn’t show up as an endpoint when I attempt to stream.

I'm really shooting in the dark here, but what about rebooting the Roon core and/or the Zidoo?
Since you did not get past the first screen in the Roon app on the Zidoo, I'd start with rebooting the Zidoo and see if that helps. I seem to remeber that while initializing the Roon app on the Zidoo, I had to choose the Core to which I wanted to connect and press OK. I assume this was a necessary step for the Roon core to really be able to send musie to the Zidoo endpoint.
    Good luck!

Thank you for the suggestions. Rebooting the devices didn't help, unfortunately. I'll keep messing with it and report back if I figure something out.
