Just need to be clear here:

If your TV does not support HDR10+ then no amount of adding the HDR10+ VSDB will convince it to do so!

That will convince the Zidoo that it can spit out HDR10+ and it will do that, but the TV simply doesn't support it so it plays the HDR10 layer only.

On those EDID screenshots, the first VSDB is the Dolby Vision one specific to the TV, the second one is in addition to the first and is the HDR10+ VSDB.

A VSDB or more correctly in this case, a VSVDB, is a "Vendor Specific Video Data Block" and these are manufacturer and model specific. In the case of the HDR10+ one, it's simply a switch (01) and in the Dolby one it's a hex string defining colour primaries, min/max nits, DV type etc, so is a lot more complicated.

In the case of the OP, he had an amp that would not pass HDR10+ to the TV even though the TV supported it.

In that case the amp EDID did not contain the HDR10+ VSDB so it was worth trying to add it to see if the HDR10+ layer would pass (sometimes the HDMI path will support that).

In your case, your Sony TV simply will not support HDR10+ because like Samsung, Sony are too bloody minded to support both formats.

In the case of Samsung however, it is possible to convince it to support Player Led Dolby Vision because of the way the format works but that's unfortunately not the case with Sony and HDR10+.
