Hi! I have a Z9X Pro connected over LAN to a QNAP NAS. As it stands I have to start over and reconfigure my NAS in a new raid setup. To keep it short I have to format my hard drives and start over again. Will the Zidoo remember my collection (posters etc.) if I move all my movies to new hard drives? I have of course backed up my collection in the Home Theater app.
Yes, you can use "Synchronise data from other source" from the "Sources" screen which is designed for exactly what you're doing. Firstly - Do not delete your old source(s) from HT4!! Once the old NAS is disconnected and the new one set up with the same movies etc, you add the new NAS as a new source but DO NOT SCAN it (press <Return> when prompted to scan). Select it, press <menu> and choose "Synchronise data from other source" Then choose the old removed source and boom, assuming the new source has exactly the same files as the old one, it migrates it all across.
Can I synchronize if the two sources are of different types? I want the data on my new source (shared folder on NAS) to match data on old source (external HDD). When I try is says "Operation failed. Try again later."
Yes, that should work but there was a bug that meant that the operation failed in synchronising sources as you describe, but that was fixed in v1.0.58
Hi... I have a doubt, any hint can help understand what may be happening here. Iam trying to synch two sources: could synch like a charm first one, but the second gives me the "Operation failed. Try again later." message. As everything on the NAS is exactly the same, I am surprised with such message. It was really fast to synch the first source, full of big files. This second source is way more robust, though - not big files, but a lot of them. Thanks in advance. edit. p.s. - forgot to mention (just in case) - the model is z1000 pro.
Hiya @Markswift2003 I have copied a post/thread here in the hope you might be able to help. Spent last few days reading the internet to try and fix my issue. Clearly to no avail. Hopefully someone maybe able to help but seems to be Zidoo thing. Had to change router and so have had new IP address and range. Updated unRAID server, as I use fixed IP address on it, to take account of new IP range. All good on that end. I can see server fine from Win 11. I can access SMB share via file explorer app on my Android phone. Unfortunately whilst Z9X media player has taken on new IP address range etc fine I can't access SMB share on unRAID. The old IP address and 'server' are there under Zidoo's Media manager software but I cannot get to new IP address server. Trying to avoid 'forgetting' old shares on Zidoo's video player and rebuilding as it's 40tb of media. Hoped to use the 'rebuild from new source' option that Zidoo player has for this sort of eventuality so you don't lose all your posters, movie details etc. Wondered if there was a way I could update a config file on zidoo with new server IP address but life is never that simple. If I reshare the SMB shares as NFS then Zidoo seems to pick everything up fine. Here's hoping for some pearls of wisdom. They'd be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance.
Ok, so the first thing to say is that if I were changing router (as I have on several occasions) I would simply use the old IP range on the new router. I'd set the same DHCP range too and any MAC allocations the same as the old router. Then everything just works off the bat and you don't need to mess with all the rest of the devices on the network. But, if you want to stay with the new IP range you'll probably need to disconnect ("log off" from popout menu) the old shares in Media Center first - I suspect the reason you can't see the new shares is to do with network names associated with old IP addresses. But DO NOT do anything with the HT library yet! Once you have the new shares accessible, you can then use "Synchronise data from other source" in the context menu in HT "Sources".
Many thanks for the reply Mark. Don't suppose changing IP and DHCP range is possible without mucking up other things attached to NAS. Definitely will try the logging out from Media Manager. The thought of going back through changing erroneous posters and titles makes me feel like sobbing or punching the cat. I just go into MM and forget the shares there? Might backup HT again first. Cheers again. From what I can see, you do the Lord's work around these parts. Good on yer. Thanks
Evening @Markswift2003 That has appeared to have done the trick. Poster wall/Home Theatre was throwing a fit and crashing every five seconds. Many thanks again
