    Hello
I switched to the zidoo version on zappiti.
I have a jvc HD750 video projector (full hd only).
With the zappiti, movies, whether in bluray x264 or 4k kdr x265 format, were played without any problem. I was even using the hdr to sdr converter with increased image quality.
Going through zidoo, the sdr images are fantastic but the images of the hdr files are washed out, like a veil on it.
I'm in yuv444 10 bits on the projector and zidoo, and sdr709 on the hdr option.
My projector and the amp it's plugged into is in hdmi 1.3.
    Thank you for your help

I assume it's a compatibility problem then - obviously that firmware is not designed for that motherboard so I would expect issues.

A washed out image on HDR content means that HDR is not being converted to SDR.

    Settings should be:

Playback/Automatic frame rate/Frame rate mode: Switch frame rate and resolution

    Display/HDR: Off
    Display/Advanced settings/Deep Color Mode: 10-bit
    Display/Advanced settings/Color Space Mode: YCbCr 444
    Display/Advanced settings/HDMI Range Mode: Auto

Thank you very much for your investment, I will try these settings but I don't have the possibility to put hdr off (in the options I have: hdr mapping, sdr709, other sdr and mapping). I read elsewhere that auto was the equivalent of off, is that correct?
(sorry for my English, I use Google translate, I'm French)

It sounds like the wrong firmware is installed which is probably why it's not working.

The Zappiti One 4K uses the Realtek RTD1295 and the equivalent models from Zidoo are the X9S, X8 and X10.

These players only have the option for HDR On/Off.

It sounds like you have firmware installed for the Realtek RTD1296 which has a completely different SDK so options like you describe for HDR won't work.

    Thank you for your answer.
If we gave it the wrong file, which was 1.1 GB and seemed to me to be the right one, is it possible to have the correct file so that I can redo the flash of the zappiti?
I don't bother you any more afterwards, you've already done a lot.
    Thanks again

Can you confirm which file you are using?

    directory "recovery_image_zidoo_z9s", file "install.img" (file size : 1 028 490)
and after install, use "update_7.1.zip" for android

for information, I tried on my television, which is 4k HDR. Once the TV is activated in HDR, it works perfectly. On the other hand, if I deactivate HDR on the TV, I actually find this completely washed out image seen on the projector.

Ok, great - I just wanted to check - so yes, the Z9S is a different chipset to the Zappiti.

This is the image you need:

thank you very much. So, from now on, with this file, what RTB version do I have exactly?
should I also install android 7?
in any case thank you for your patience and help

Still need help, sorry. (while I prefer not to bother you anymore)

I installed the file on a fat32 usb key.

The zappiti turned off, usb key inserted and restore button pressed for 10 seconds for boot.

Green screen, nothing happens when it should boost in restore mode.

When I turn off the device (with the remote control this time) and turn it back on, the player launches normally and uses the current version.

I'm still stuck with this message popping up every 5 seconds.
I will try to put back the zappiti rom then reflash with your file.
The updated differences img files can be downloaded from which site? Have a nice day, kind regards, fabrice.

I assumed you were doing something clever with the boot loader and not just trying to flash the Zidoo image straight onto a Zappiti in the standard way!

I wouldn't expect that to work. I'm surprised the firmware will even load! - If nothing else, there is a check on the MAC address to make sure that it's actually a Zidoo box. MAC address can be changed if you have access to a U-Boot prompt, either from connecting a terminal emulator via UART or, I seem to remember, connecting by a TFT server.

I think you can also email Zidoo with the MAC address and they used to activate it for you - not sure if they still do that.

    ROM images are here:

I don't quite understand your message.

Should I try to reset the zappiti firmware and repeat the procedure to the zidoo?

I've no idea - I've never tried to flash Zappiti to Zidoo firmware.

I would assume it was impossible without access to the bootloader.

I put the firmware back to stock and am going to buy a Z9X.
