Was wondering if any one can explain why this is happening. I use an audio extractor to play DTS and True HD audio from my Pioneer VSX 523 receiver. If the playback is 4K 10bit/12bit 4:4:4, then the audio just cuts out. I found a workaround that converts the video to 10bit 4:2:0, whether it was originally 12bit or 10 bit, and the audio plays back fine then. Is it a bandwidth issue?
Probably - but it also depends how clever the audio extractor is - some are ok, some not so much. Bandwidth depends on frame rate and colour subsampling - 4:2:0 playback is only available at 50/60Hz and presumably the majority of your content is 23.976 so you can't use 4:2:0 at 23~30Hz.
