I moved my movies to a nas.
I used the sync functionalty when adding the new source so it grabbed all the references fromn the old source.
It worked fine. My posterwall pointed to the new location in the NAS and I could play the files.

Then I enabled "automatically scan sources", and now it has started re-doing all the references... why?
    is that really intended?
I mean it had already correctly changed the location from locale drive to NAS.
All folder and file names are the same

Never seen it do that - I've used Synchronise Sources a few times and I always have Automatic Scan switched on.

yeah, i was also quite surpriced seing as it worked the first time i did it with the new drive inside the Zidoo hdd slot

And, after this msyerious scan finished, it is missing some movies.
    It only has 1422/1438...

Would there be any point of me trying to delete the source, add it again and then use the old source for sync again?
Update: nah, I will just match those 14 movies.
It's just weird since the old source had 1436/1438

    Frustrating!

There will be a reason but we'll probably never know... I always take the pragmatic approach too...

    So, I realised something.
After I changed source to my NAS shared folder and re-synced with the old source, I lost all the categories I had put my movies into.
As in,t he cagegories still exist, but they are empty.
Any idea what could have happened?

Does anyone have any idea what might have happened and if I can fix it in stead of having to re-classify 1600 movies..

No idea - as far as I understand, the categories should remain - they're defined in the database so I'd expect them to come over too - but, have to be honest, I haven't ever tested that.

Is there any way to read from and write to the database using a third party tool?

Yes - you can export the database (it's SQLite) in a backup, edit it, and re-import as a restore, but you need to know what you're doing a bit with SQL.

I have been working with data and SQL for 25+ years, so guess I should be able to do that :)

where is the db file located on the zidoo?

You have to create a backup which is a zip file with a ztb extension and you'll find the database in there.

    Cool, thanks.
Will give it ago and see if I can find out why the movies are not in their designated categories.

I wonder if that is the fastest way to put movies into categories?
I guess I can't really get around doing it one movieds at a time...

It's worth asking @McBluna - he knows a lot more than I do about the database.
