My scheduling recording app

This is an advanced scheduling recording app for Zidoo X9 and Tronsmart Pavo M9.

It most probably works for other android tv box using the same chipset (MSTAR MSO9180D1R) as Zidoo X9 (tested) and Tronsmart Pavo M9 (tested) like the Egreat A9 (not tested)

The app aims to provide more advanced features than the default provided HDMI in app like

    • Choose between Native recording engine or Custom Mstar recording engine.
    • better video and audio bitrates than the default recording app (High, Medium, Low, Custom)
    • Custom video bitrate, resolution and codec; TS or MP4 (Only works with native recording engine at the moment)
    • Custom audio bitrate, sampling and codec
    • recurring recordings
    • multiple scheduled tasks
    • hopefully a more intuitive UI
    • more reliable recording using a persistent service (reboots device in extreme cases when the HDMI in capture device crashes)
    • A new file is created each time the partition file size limit is reached
    • One touch quick recording using the 0 button (still buggy)
    • Steaming Local network and Youtube/Twitch (Work In Progress)
I am short of money at the moment if you can make a little donation that would help. If you are interested in the app, please donate and I will send the beta version of the app.

I have added medium, high and very high bitrate which are 2 times, 4 times and 6.5 times greater than the bitrate of the HDMI in app.

Youtube compression hides some of the huge difference
Mstar at high bitrate very superior

My first impression is quality is better, but still 30fps. Also it would be good to be able to record directly to NAS where my librairy is. Great job thank you.

60fps at high bitrae = melted device imho
already runs very hot on edge of disaster

Unfortunately I don't think the device can record greater than 30fps (I will try to increase the fps but I am pretty sure the max fps is 30).

NAS support will be a bit complex to implement. Will try to do it if I have time.

On my side I will try to mount via init.d, but I need to find the right script. For fps I also think it is device related. From danman zidoostream I dont know but quality for fps seem better... You already add great quality in record again thank you!

I just add some rubber feet to existing one and temp is 30% lower for sure.

For the UI it is very acceptable and clear, maybe add persistent setting so once we find the right setting it will be by default.

    Hello
I have conducted a longer recording test using high bitrate (middle) this morning and the app stopped recordring and the tronsmart rebooted at 4194304kb (1 hr 15min)
I remember the zidoo developers provided a firmware update to cause the x9 to make a new file and continue recording at 4gb
Maybe try now to install your app on x9 . but maybe will wait for next version
    tks
Any chance you could code to fix stop recordingand reboot issue?
Like to create new file and keep recording:)

yup I will take a look at the 4Gb limit ... this is probably because the limit of FAT32 partition.
i have added auto restart in case of fatal errors because I found out that after fatal errors with recordings, the capture device does not record video anymore.. that's why I have implemented an automatic restart feature

Does the official zidoo HDMI In app automatically creates a new file at 4GB?

Edit: I did not see any code that creates a new file at 4GB in the Zidoo HDMI In App

Mostly I have been recording mp4 with the x9 and limit file size is 2gb but will make oo1, 002, 003 as needed without stopping the record
only .ts can create 4gb file.
I will start now a hdmi in app long test

    Some news:
    • A new file is created each time the partition file size limit is reached
    • recording settings are now remembered
    • switched to native code for better recording
