HDR not working

    Hi!

I bought an X20, and looks like the HDR not working, that's very sad, because this was my main reason to sell my Popcorn Hour.
First off all I have an X One, and PS4, both connected trough an Denon AVR 3400H to my Samsung QE65Q82 TV. HDR setting on both works flawlessly.
First time I connected to my X20 there was very high red level on my screen.
Okay, I tried to update my firware, but online check says I have the latest, 1.2.29.
Checked the Zidoo site, I saw there are update.
Downloaded, installed from USB, and the red screen disappears, network speed also improved.
Looks like everything fine, except the HDR feature.
Disconnected it from my AVR, and plugged in directly to my TV, still no HDR.
Is there any problem with my device?
Please help me, because I can't use it.

Btw, sorry for my basic english, this isn't my native language.

    Hi!

Have you activated HDR in the settings menue? I usualy use the "auto" function and i have zero problems with HDR Playback.

    Yes, I enabled it.

Looks like I have similar problem like others have here in the forum. (Samsung UHD problem)

I think Zidoo player cannot handshake with Samsung's enhaced signal input (Deep color mode)

I figured out how to get "some" HDR but it's not a succes option.

If I disable Samsung's Deep Color on the HDMI port which is Zidoo connected to, I got 4K HDR, but only 8 bit mode.
In this case, terrible banding visible, especially on animations.
Another workaround if I set resolution to 1080p, in this case I got 10 or 12 bit HDR video with no banding, but I got only 2k resolution.
If I enable Deep Color on TV, I got no HDR at all.

    I can't believe this can happen. :(

    Thanks.
I don't understand what that model depends on.
These models will surely be affected as described in the forum:
    Q82R (same as Q80R)
    Q90R
    Q9FN
Or maybe just the X20 has problem with it, not the Z9... Who knows it?

Contact Zidoo support and ask them. I am afraid this is not something we can help you with, HDR works flawlessly for me so this is clearly a problem with your specific display.

    I've already done that.
They promised me to check it out and test it.

Have you set in denon the settings right,in video settings you can set 4k to standard and higher,if you set it to higher you have HDR ?

Already done, my gaming consoles also need this.
HDR only working like I said in my second post, but in "limited" mode.

i have the same problem with samsung Q9FN.

from what i read on the other thread this should fix most of the hdmi problems Zidoo->Samsung:
    https://www.hdfury.com/product/dr-hdmi-4k/

i was not testing it yet .. currently i just live with it to have no hdr on zidoo.

Yes, I read, but I think 100$+shipping is too expensive for a feature what should be work without this.

So, ok, if I buy this device, and after set the signal to 4k HDR 10 bit, it will probably work great.
But... if I want to watch other media, e.g. 1080p SDR , do I need to switch this device's HDMI mode every time I watch other resolution, frame rate, SDR, HDR, interlaced, etc...? It's annoying to me.
Else would I be wondering if other device types have this problem or just X20?
I was hoping that "ignoring EDID function" can help, but it does nothing with HDR function.

    Any update from developers?
I think there are a lot of Samsung TV's out there, I think maybe this problem does not even appear to some users.
Anyway I tried my player on a Sony HDR TV, it works fine.

Sonner or latter It could be bad for them, if products do not work as advertized it could be a bad thing for any brand.
