Firmware: 1.2.10 and earlier. Settings: HDMI Mode: 3840x2160p 60 Hz Deep Color mode: Auto or 12bit or 10bit Color Space mode: Auto or YCbCr 444 or YCrCb 420 Auto23.976/24 enabled With this settings I get after every 40 seconds a black screen for 1 -2 seconds. somtimes earlier or later. You see on TV that the box has changed to 2160p and 23.976 What works: - Disable Auto23.976/24 -> the movie will run with 60Hz. The are some micro shutters - Set HDMI Mode to 1080P 60Hz -> bad for 4k content - Set Deep Color mode to off -> bad for HDR content - Switch color Space mode to RGB 444 -> in black parts of a movie I get white pixel errors like snow At the moment the best option: Switch to YCbCr 422 -> Seems to work fine, but I think that the colors are not so strong. will test it. Is YCbCr 444 and 23.976Hz a hardware limitation or problem? Can you fix it?
I have exact the same problem. With the exception that 422 causes has the same issues as 444 - blank screens.
There is a change in 1.2.10. With 1.2.10 there is no 10bit output with 422 so there are no black screens . With 4K/23,976/10Bit/YCrCb444 i have black screens in android apps too.
Zidoo come on, your internet page you says: Real 23.976 fps .... 4K UHD .... 10-bit color I must admit, you dont say that theese are possible at the same time.
Really no 10 bit? My TV LG 55E6D plays HDR correctly. I see the switch to HDR. Out of my TV I get the following information 2160P, BT2020, HDR. HDR is 10bit and not 8bit, isn´t it?
I have a test movie with a 10-bit gray gradient. In 1.2.8 it shows a smooth transition from one gray color to another with YCrCB 4:2:2 and 4:4:4. Using 1.2.10 only a smooth transition with 4:4:4 is shown. See http://www.avsforum.com/forum/139-display-calibration/2269338-10-bit-gradient-test-patterns.html Stacey Spears 2160p HEVC Rotating 8bit and 10bit Quantization Artifact test pattern.
You are right. I tested the settings with the test movies. With the 422 settings you didn´t see any differnces between 8bit and 10bit pictures. With the 444 setting the 10bit pictures shows a smooth transition from one gray color to another. I had the opinion, that the movies looks with 444 a little much better then with 422. That should be the reason way. I need an answer from Zidoo immediately. Is this a software bug or a hardware limitation? This feature is a K.O. feature for me! Perhaps I should send the Zidoo 9xs back (has time until 31.01.2017) and buy a himedia Q10pro.
Did you tried the following setting? HDMI Mode: 3840x2160p 24 Hz Deep Color mode: Auto or 12bit or 10bit Color Space mode: Auto or YCbCr 444 or YCrCb 420 Auto23.976/24 disabled Seems to work for me, Did not found any micro shutters at the moment. Will take tomorrow a closer look. I will test the Box with another 4K HDR TV, too
2160p/24Hz/YCrCb444/10bit is working, however you may experience shutters from time to time. I have a Samsung KS8080.
I have a LG55E6D. Do you have enabled UltraHD Deep Color on the connected HDMI-Port? I have the same Problem with HD-Movies (playing in 2160p) in 23,976Hz as UltraHD-Movies. After disabling UltraHD Deep Color on my TV, the Problems with HD-Movies are gone. Playing UltraHD Movies my TV likes to switch on UltraHD Deep Color . Strange.....
I have enabled Deep Color on my TV. I have not tested HD Movies but i have black screens in other Android apps too when the 2160p/24Hz/YCrCb444/10bit is enabled.
I tested the Box now with a Samsung KS8090. The same problem. You can see, that the Box is being switched to 2160p and 23,976hz. Then you get time after time frame drops / black screen. I will test now earlier firmware versions as full image.
Can't get normal 2160p to work. X9S is directly linked to my Sony X85C. Thought i tested every combination of Color Space and Color Depth. But it is just stuttering. Playing over NFS, Resolution set to 2160p 60hz, Playback is set to sync to 23,976, HD Audio is Downgraded. It is stuttering Spoiler: MediaInfo General Unique ID : 179639739239138365299938102455961284663 (0x87255AF4F528A2799036687BB06A7037) Complete name : \\...\Serien\X\X\X.S01E01.DD51.DL.2160p.x264.mkv Format : Matroska Format version : Version 4 / Version 2 File size : 15.0 GiB Duration : 57 min 11 s Overall bit rate : 37.7 Mb/s Encoded date : UTC 2015-11-01 02:21:58 Writing application : mkvmerge v8.3.0 ('Over the Horizon') 64bit Writing library : libebml v1.3.1 + libmatroska v1.4.2 Video ID : 1 Format : AVC Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec Format profile : High@L5.1 Format settings, CABAC : Yes Format settings, ReFrames : 5 frames Codec ID : V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC Duration : 56 min 56 s Bit rate : 36.5 Mb/s Width : 3 840 pixels Height : 2 160 pixels Display aspect ratio : 16:9 Frame rate mode : Constant Frame rate : 23.976 (24000/1001) FPS Color space : YUV Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0 Bit depth : 8 bits Scan type : Progressive Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.184 Stream size : 14.5 GiB (97%) Writing library : x264 core 148 r2597 e86f3a1 Encoding settings : cabac=1 / ref=5 / deblock=1:-1:-1 / analyse=0x3:0x133 / me=umh / subme=10 / psy=1 / psy_rd=1.00:0.15 / mixed_ref=1 / me_range=24 / chroma_me=1 / trellis=2 / 8x8dct=1 / cqm=0 / deadzone=21,11 / fast_pskip=0 / chroma_qp_offset=-3 / threads=24 / lookahead_threads=4 / sliced_threads=0 / nr=0 / decimate=0 / interlaced=0 / bluray_compat=0 / constrained_intra=0 / bframes=8 / b_pyramid=2 / b_adapt=2 / b_bias=0 / direct=3 / weightb=1 / open_gop=0 / weightp=2 / keyint=250 / keyint_min=23 / scenecut=40 / intra_refresh=0 / rc_lookahead=60 / rc=crf / mbtree=1 / crf=17.0 / qcomp=0.60 / qpmin=0 / qpmax=69 / qpstep=4 / ip_ratio=1.40 / aq=2:0.90 Default : Yes Forced : No Color range : Limited Color primaries : BT.709 Transfer characteristics : BT.709 Matrix coefficients : BT.709 Audio #1 ID : 2 Format : AC-3 Format/Info : Audio Coding 3 Mode extension : CM (complete main) Format settings, Endianness : Big Codec ID : A_AC3 Duration : 57 min 9 s Bit rate mode : Constant Bit rate : 640 kb/s Channel(s) : 6 channels Channel positions : Front: L C R, Side: L R, LFE Sampling rate : 48.0 kHz Frame rate : 31.250 FPS (1536 spf) Bit depth : 16 bits Compression mode : Lossy Stream size : 262 MiB (2%) Language : German Default : Yes Forced : No Audio #2 ID : 3 Format : AC-3 Format/Info : Audio Coding 3 Mode extension : CM (complete main) Format settings, Endianness : Big Codec ID : A_AC3 Duration : 57 min 11 s Bit rate mode : Constant Bit rate : 640 kb/s Channel(s) : 6 channels Channel positions : Front: L C R, Side: L R, LFE Sampling rate : 48.0 kHz Frame rate : 31.250 FPS (1536 spf) Bit depth : 16 bits Compression mode : Lossy Stream size : 262 MiB (2%) Language : English Default : No Forced : No Please can anyone give me the right settings? I have tested now different firmwares 1.2.7 -> same Problem 1.2.6 ->same Problem 1.2.3 -> If 10bit is enabled and I start to play a movie, hdmi signal is lost. I has to restart the box with unplugged HDMI cables, After the box is up and running plug the HDMI cable again and disables 10bit. @fab0nymous: There is no real setting for this problem. You can set to 1080p, set 8bit, disable HDR or ULTRAHD Deep color in you TV on the connected HDMI Port. If you play a movie local (USB-Stick, not over nfs), will you get the same problem? Perhaps it is only a network problem.
Thanks for reply. I now tested with different files. Network is no problem. My settings now 2160p60hz/AUTO/AUTO/Sync Framerate Elysium (https://4ksamples.com/elysium-2013-2160p-1-minute-sample-footage/) is running smooth, no problems. Must be something wrong the the other files..
Your test sample is to short. I get the problem after 1 -2 minutes frame and audio drop. Looks like complete HDMI Drop for 1 -2 sec. I suppose, there is a buffer problem. But I did not get any answer from Zidoo. I will send my box back and do not hope or gamble for a fix.
Can someone test this file with 2160p60hz and Sync 23,976? It is stuttering, over nfs and usb.. https://mega.nz/#!xp5ElLrB!L5AzsQ6n09qjRdoDiBTPLvHBC0whrOMqeyIfv-Akf5M EDIT: changed link. Please someone test this file
