Dolby Vision raised blacks some files

Player is Z1000Pro. Settings are as recommended here on forum. HDR set to auto. On latest Beta firmware. Dolby Vision back ups from disk are fine but downloaded files from other places that contain Dolby Vision are washed out. If I select the VS10 engine for Dolby vision only, the downloaded files are fine. Curious as to why this is happening.

This seems to be a bug with VS10 - so here's what's happening:

You presumably have an HDR (but not Dolby Vision) TV and if you play DV (Profile 7) disc rips you're simply playing the HDR10 base layer with the Realtek engine which is why it looks ok - This is correct, and how DV Profile 7 is supposed to work on an HDR10 TV.

The downloaded files are presumably Profile 5 DV and for some reason HDR "Auto" is not invoking VS10 to convert them , so the luminance is wrong (hence the washed out look - black floor is in the wrong place) and also gamma and colours will be wrong too since Profile 5 uses a unique colour space.

When you select "...VS10 for Dolby Vision..." this is the same as HDR "Auto" with the exception that Dolby Vision is now correctly converted to HDR10 by VS10 if required - ostensibly this is for Profile 5 since, as mentioned, Profile 7 (and Profile 8(.1)) has an HDR10 compatibility layer (and Profile 4 has an SDR compatibility layer although this is much less important since there's literally no commercial Profile 4 stuff out there!).

Bottom line is leave it on VS10 for Dolby Vision and you'll be good.

I've confirmed the same behaviour here and reported the bug.

This has been fixed and will be rolled into the next public firmware :)
