I have a Z9x that I was using for DV to my projector. Looked great. I am looking to re-deploy the unit to a 1080p non HDR application....but still occasionally playback 4K HDR Rips. Can someone advise on the proper settings for HDR to SDR? Everything I have tried looks washed out or too dark.
Just use VS10 SDR and you're good to go. So, Settings/Display/HDR > Dolby Vision VS10 Engine (For all content) On a 1080p SDR display that will convert all content to SDR Rec.709 using the VS10 engine beautifully, including any 4K HDR/DV rips.
Thanks. I do have it set for DV VS10 for all content. Where in settings do I indicate I have a SDR rec709 display? It looks like it is outputting 2020?
You don't need to. The new display's EDID tells it. Sounds like you've still got Custom EDID switched on.
