To save wear on the fan, is it ok to turn the fan off in the Quick Settings menu, if I don't have a HDD installed inside? Or should the fan still be on to help cool the electronics? I don't want it to overheat. The X9s was designed for passive cooling. I'm not sure how the x10 handles heat with the fan off.
Never had my fan on on my X10 and i have internal Samsung ssd installed . Never noticed any heat being ommitted with the ssd with it transfering 500gb files and on constant for 6.5 hours ..... So never enabled internal fan . Some i hear with a 3.5 inch drive also dont enable fan with no issues . Depends on your country / climate and type of drive . But with no drives cant see an issue unless constant being on 24/7 .
Even if you have a HDD 5400/5900 rpm you can cut off the fan. The temperature does not exceed 40 degrees after a movie of 2 hours and more
my pleasure, here is an old message : Hello, Here is the HDD temperature before and after a movie with and without FAN. I have a WD Red 3To ( we know that the wd red 3To does not heat and a low speed of 5400 rpm) The running time of the film is two hour and it is on the internal hard drive It is just for information. ------------------------ WITH FAN Before the movie After the movie It is lukewarm in touch with the hand -------------------------------------- WITHOUT FAN Before the movie After the movie I check the temperature in the case, there is a temperature of 30.2 degrees Celsius see you
Hi all, Just out of curiosity, i check the temperature of the internal HDD (8tb / 7200rpm) after watching a movie without the fan of Zidoo X10. ------------ The temperature is around 39 degrees after 1 hour with the fan on "OFF", and without watching movies. ------------ I watched several movies, the longest was Interstellar (2h45mn) and the highest temperature was around 47 degrees. ------------ The temperature is between 44 and 47 degrees depending on the duration of the film, i suppose the temperature could exceed 50 degrees if I watched "The lord of the rings extended" for example. If I make no mistake we must not exceed 50 degrees with an internal HDD, so it seems like it can be risky to disable the X10 fan with a 7200rpm HDD. For my part I will let the fan work See you
Very much appreciated. Yeah, with a spinning HDD, I would leave the fan on. I think for right now since I have no HDD inside, I'll leave the fan off as I don't think it's necessary.
