Ive configured my Eversolo A6 for coax in and USB C out. I've connected my laptop USB to the USB C on the A6, Start a scan on REW and there's no output from the speakers, I can see the VU meters move on the A6 when i start the scan (20-20khz) but I don't hear any sound coming from the speakers, my suspicion is the signal isn't getting to the minidsp Flex 8. I can set the A6 for Internal source (Tidal) and I hear music. I'm evidently missing something here. Can someone help? Thanks!

The USB-C on the A6 is an input not an output. You cannot configure it as an output. What output have you actually selected ?

Thanks for the correction! I meant that I am using the USB-C port on the A6 as an input. The output is Coax.

If you are using any digital input on the A6, then it can only emerge via analog outputs be it RCA or XLR or both. But the FLEX8 I believe only takes digital inputs so not clear what you are trying to do here. Perhaps you should be connecting your laptop source generating the sweeps to the usb input of the Flex8. After your correction filters are generated then you connect the A6 as your music source via coax output into the Flex8 ?

Good idea using the Flex8 USB input for the audio sweep test tone. I’m currently using it for using the Device Console to configure the unit. On the laptop connected to the A6, I closed the Device Console software and launched Windows audio test on the laptop speakers good, then tried doing the same on the port connected to the A6 with no sound through the speakers. The A6 feeds the amps that drive the speakers. I’ve checked all connections and power good. I also launched REW a tan a test sweep, also with no sound resulting from it. Maybe use the Bluetooth option on the Flex8 to send the audio to from the laptop?

I use a miniDSP SHD Studio box with my A6. Now I don't use or know REW, instead I am running the standard miniDSP control software on my laptop along with full Dirac. The A6 has nothing to do with the correction step at all, the laptop with its programs sends out the sweeps over USB into the SHD, but it also controls the device over this same interface so that after it computes the final correction filter it downloads it into the SHD preset. I assume your REW will be doing similar in that it will download an FIR filter. Then the A6 plays digital audio into one of the input ports of the SHD, could be coax, optical, AES or USB in my case. Corrected audio still digital in my case emerges, I then put it through a DAC and on to speakers. The Flex8 acts as the DAC in your case. I think you just use the USB as both control and audio feed for the correction step with your Flex8, don't think you need bluetooth as well. However I don't know REW so maybe not the best person to advise.

Only the A8 can do digital routing: Any Digital input => IIS Digital output even running via XMOS for re-clocking. The IIS DAC just needs a good DAC chip as the deployed crystals don't even matter then.

Thanks for all the help Jjb067. Now that you’ve triggered me to start thinking straight, I need to double check the USB ports and their mapping on the laptop. You’re right, the A6 has nothing to do with the correction. Plugging the test signal into the Flex8 is the right way to do this. After I tried it that way with no joy, verifying my USB mapping needs to be done next.
Nice Monkey - I don’t know all the features/specs of the A8 but the digital port mapping has my attention.
