HDR10+ is on the way, probably the first BD containing HDR10+ will be available next months. Does anyone knows if Zidoo X9S support HDR10+ (with an HDMI 2.1 cable, of course) ?
1) HDR10+ not need HDMI 2.1 cable or HDMI 2.1 device 2) there are not any player compatible with dynamic metadata from local file, except UHD player like Oppo 203/205
1)What do you mean ? Is HDMI 2.0 dynamic metadata compatible ? 2) Well, when HDR10+ will be available on the market some compatible players will be available as well, of course..
1) yes , HDR10+ e dolby vision was release on HDMI 2.0 2) nope, dolby vision use second track on second layer like HDR10+ ,Only UHD player like Oppo 203/205 can read second layer from file .
2)Yes, I understand. But if HDR10+ will be implemented massively on the market, and it will replace normal HDR (static) and perhaps Dolby Vision, for sure many others UHD players like Oppo 203/205 will be released. It's just a marketing issue. Otherwise it doesn't make sense the HDR10+ implementation. HDR technology is open source, Dolby Vision isn't.
NOPE, HDR10+ is royalty-free NOT open source, is big difference! HDR10+ is supported only by 3 company and only last panasonic players now and in the future .Samsung have closed player's division. Forget about HDR10+. The future of HDR is "tone mapping" o better dynamic tone mapping, dinamic meta data have big limitaion with attual TV. PS: oppo support only Dolby Vision from disc and file.
Nice picture looun! To put it into perspective: Yes DV and HDR10+ are technically available on HDMI 2.0 but to run in combination with UHD one needs more bandwidth hence HDMI 2.1 becomes essential. OK some may prefer HDR10+/DV in combination with 1080P which makes sense on smaller screens (around 55 inch is still small for UHD) but on really big screens (75 inch+/projection) UHD will win hands on. HLG is absolutely relevant for streaming services including satellite.
DV and HDR10+ are "dinamic meta data " but need TV with "1000 nits" ,that's now is impossible . Lot of TV have max only 150-200 nits , so is much better HDR10 with tone mapping . The best quality now and future is dynamic tone mapping like madvr with HTPC ( ~1000$/€ ), any sequence of movie are calibrate for max performance for YOUR TV (in your house) .
What are you talking about LCD/LED all do over 200nits you need to do more reading up. Dynamic tone mapping for dolby is 10000 nits but the meta data reads the disc max light ouput usually 1,000/or a few like blade runner US disc only which is 10000. The idea of tone mapping is to map to the capability of the TV no matter how many nits which all 4tv's lcd usually do between 800-1700 or oled lower topping out at about 650 which will be higher on this year Panasonic oled.
All of this talk is irrelevant as there are zero rips out there of movies that support either Dolby vision or HDR10+. Once those rips come out then you’ll see player support - most notably - in new chipsets and boxes. If any format is going to win out it’ll be Dolby Vision as it’s the dominant format supported via streaming services most notably Netflix and ITunes. These services will also be the easiest to rip from.
Really Dolby Vision 4k UHD been available awhile now and HDR10+. Also will not post here but i have found a media player running the oppo 203 firmware which will play back Dolby Vision and HDR10+ files perfect no disc spinner obviously included.
Yes, I know, but what kind of device is required to watch that properly ? Zidoo X9S supports HDR only, not HDR10+.
No streaming device currently available does it. It would have to be played using the TVs built in media player... or possibly a bluray player. From what I’ve read to support HDR10+ on your device or movie you have to join the HDR alliance. Part of joining the alliance is the requirement to share code and other tech with other members in the alliance hence why companies like Apple and LG have not joined.
Well, I guess all players that support Dolby Vision (like Oppo) will support HDR10+ as well. Otherwise no reason to launch HDR10+ in the market...
