I have a LG 77 G6p (2016 and TV LED DV) , Oppo 203 JB, as well as the China Oppo , M9702 , a z9x ,and z1000pro, as well as No Time To Die, UHD/ISO. Can I help with anything Mark?
Sorry to butt in here but it seems that there is still a noticeable difference even in cinema mode (according to @Reset_9999). So likely there is something else going on here :-/. That stinks because I thought we had solved it :-(.
a 2016 LG Oled, does not have those two modes, only Vivid, Standard (User), APS, Cinema (User), Sports, Game (User), Photo, HDR Effect, ISF Expert (Bright Room), ISF Expert (Dark Room)
I am guessing you use one of the ISF Expert modes for DV then? Hmm... the mystery shall continue, at least for me for Cinema Home mode. Not that its a game changer for me anymore. I am enjoying the correct Cinema mode of DV across all devices now.
Perhaps the difference with normal cinema mode is just harder to spot? I think we need more input from @Reset_9999 and @matien to see how big of a difference they're still seeing in the normal cinema mode.
It also depends on the content. For 1000nits content, the difference is very small but for 4000nits content, the difference is quite noticeable. I'm talking about the RPU source_pq value (not the HDR10 mastering display luminance nor the actual brightness of the content.) 1000nits: https://slow.pics/c/2t0mnnhn https://slow.pics/c/QdfbOTVQ https://slow.pics/c/1J0FaE5F 4000nits: https://slow.pics/c/dehZrb5C https://slow.pics/c/3WpgfPYo
Honestly it's hard for me to say which one is the "best" or "accurate" image. I'm also looking on an SDR display. I can try to look on an HDR display later. What do you think?
@Markswift2003 not sure if you mentally checked out of this thread lol but what are your thoughts after looking at the test images that Reset posted?
No one can tell you which one is more accurate just by looking at someone's camera pictures of his TV. The point of those comparisons is to show that there is a difference, nothing more. When i said '' i prefer how it looks on my C2'' , its based on my real life comparison, not the camera pictures.
Fair enough. I'm definitely still interested in what is driving the difference between the players. All 3 looks different. I assume the shield is a bit redder due to the red push. But yes I'm very interested in why the internal app player is so different.
For some unknown reasons, all the devices behave differently even in TV-LED... x700/x800m2/oppo all have very little reaction to Level 1 metadata (TV-led and player-led) for 1000nits content. I doubt we will ever find out why so better just to enjoy movies instead of worrying about what works or what doesnt.
I think only Dolby knows. I just feel like it's their fault lol. Like EVERY media player is different. The only common link here is Dolby.
