When I use smb win 10 to open the usb zidoo connected drives, it shows "android, music, movie" etc. folders. Deleting them only works until you access the drive again when they reappear.

 

weve reported that issue since the first f/ws ,i just ignore them now ,since theyre all empty

 

I could be mistaken, but I thought at one point they had resolved it, but it came back again with newer firmwares.

 

TBH i missed if they did .
After reporting it in first few f/ws ,i just gave up on it

 

I have a z30 pro and a 8k dune. I have had several yrs models of each company. Don't get me wrong, I love zidoo and have huge respect for MarkSwift, but zidoo, get your shit together. Between audio drop-outs, losing hdmi sync etc. etc. it is becoming distracting when trying to get into what I am watching.

 

Got it - I don't tend to use internal drives, except for testing, so I rammed a 2TB into my 8000 yesterday and all that came up was LOST.DIR.

Also, I don't use external apps on my boxes (again, except for testing) so I opened Chrome and the Android directory appeared - so this is used to contain app specific data.

Music and Movies, I have no idea, but when I switched the box on this morning, lo and behold they'd appeared!

So I don't think we can do away with LOST.DIR but I agree to a certain extent that the other directories could maybe be on internal storage although there's some logic to using external storage because internal is limited and fixed - I'm kind of ambivalent over it - just look at all the crap Windows hoses around your hard drive!!

 

Sorry Android creates crap on inserted HDD's. Windows just creates a system recovery directory and a file recovery directory both being hidden/system directories.
Dunes can be configured to hide empty folders created by Android which somewhat helps.

Windows creates a lot on your system partition only not on data drives.

 

It will be a good idea to request to Zidoo devs to do the same in order to get rid of such garbish system folders.

 

Hi, I have a Zidoo 3000 Pro and I'd like to test how an 8K video plays from YouTube (I go to the Apps section, then from Google, I go to YouTube and select one of the videos listed as 8K). The HDMI output goes directly to the 8K laser projector with an HDMI 2.1 cable.
The problem is that no matter what video I play, it only outputs a 4K image (when playing the YouTube video, the settings gear doesn't go beyond 4K), even though the projector's information indicates it's outputting in 8K.
Could someone please tell me what the correct settings should be on the Zidoo, because I'm sure I'm doing it wrong somewhere.

I'm really sorry to ask again, I just can't find Pass-through compatible mode, it's nowhere under Settings/Audio

on what firmware is your zidoo? Mine is on 1.1.70 and I do not have pass-through. So I believe you have not updated your zidoo yet.

 

As for what I can se the firmware version is v1.1.38

 

just received 1.2.0.5. 30 minutes ago.

 

that is it, if you update your zidoo it will show the pass through. Maybe wait for the new firmware (like i wil do)?

 

Will the zidoo devs continue to work on the oversharpening that still occurs? Maybe they know about DMDReviews comment on it?

Also I confirm I still have stuterring in some movies even in LLDV mode. I don’t know if it’s worst on 1.2.01 than it was on 1.1.70 or if it’s the same but it’s there. The Dune 8K image is better but it also stutters on some content like the Seinfeld uhdbr rips. On the dune it seems related to mkv vs m2ts which doesnt stutter. On z9x 8k the seinfeld plays fine but other movies stutter like chronicles of riddick.

 

note that my drives are not "inserted" but usb only.

 

My Internal 4TB on my Z30 8k doesnt get any of the junk folders added
Its only added to all the USB HDDs i plug in
