Hello, I've inquired before in other forums, and it seems I'm not the only one with this issue: Trying to copy files from my mac computer to the attached SSD in the DMP-A8. Everything works, but it is ***painfully*** slow. From PC (which I don't have access to most times), it is fast as expected. But from MacOS, it takes 10x the time. Any ideas as to why this happening? And if there is a solution? Thanks! (dmp-a8, imac are both wired connection to my network)
Have you tried a direct usb connection between computer and A8, use the top OTG port and setting for PC connection , this should be faster than a networked connection ?
Mac does not connect with Android, for this is some software necessary but I don't know which one. Just tried it with a Windows box, but also not the best, because of performance, in my case 30-80 MB/sek slow and made problems with the sync tool FreeFileSync (many errors ... I abortet the test). In my case the best solution is a external SSD which for updates I connect directly to the Mac and Forklift does the job with much better performance. I stay with this.
I use Finder>connect to server: smb://(IP of Ax) in MacBook Pro when MacBook and Ax are on the same network. When a window popup, log in as guest. SSD will show in desktop.
New A8 owner here. Network transfer from MacOS to the internal M2 NVMe I installed is painfully slow. Can transfer to other devices on the network at higher multiples. Is there a firmware fix for this? Attaching a FAT32 external USB drive works but is cumbersome. I have over 40k tracks on the SSD gettign to the directory to load new CD rips is slow either way. Please fix this. I add 5-10 new CD's a month. The Eversolo is far worse than BluOS or Roon.
Transferring music files over wi-fi is almost always a pain (unless they are MP3s, of course). Although cumbersome, using an external HDD is a clean and fast (well, ehm... faster) solution. Curious, though, that you add a new CD every three days or so, on a regular basis... I usually add one every month, at most...
Hello, there. Network transfers between Macs and the A8, SSD read and write speeds, and SMB protocol compatibility across multiple devices all influence transfer rates. To optimize performance, using a hard disk enclosure is recommended.
Thank you for the reply Kim. Transfer speed to the A8 is several orders of magnitude slower than to my NAS via SMB also hardwired on the same network. The NAS has mechanical hard drives and the A8 has a high speed SSD with excellent write speed. I suspect that something is amiss in the A8 transfer protocol.
