Z9x Pro and AVC 3D mkv

Z9x pro plays frame packed mkvs as 2d, instead of 3d. My display is a jvc nz9 and when I check the custom EDID section of the z9x pro, it reads that it doesn't have 3D capabilities.

Not sure if that's what I should be seeing with this projector but I'm thinking that's likely why it's not Auto engaging the 3D.

    Any tips?

Fixed by updating to new firmware, setting a custom EDID, and reverting back.

What was the custom EDID you used? I'm having the same issues!

You do not need a custom EDID in order to play frame packed MVC 3D titles. If you are not getting 3D to play, something else is wrong or your 3D files are of some other funky 3D format. Make sure you power on your display first and the Zidoo last to make the HDMI handshake correctly identifies that your display is 3D capable.

Have ripped mkv files using make mkv. Disc plays 3D fine from Sony Blu-ray player to JVC projector. However, files with (movie) 3d.mkv don't trigger 3d version when playing on Zidoo only the 2d version.
    When I add (movie) 3d SBS.mkv or 3d TAB.mkv
It plays in frame packed 3d but plays the wrong format of frame packed 3d.

I agree the zidoo acts like it thinks my JVC NZ9 projector is not 3D capable. Having trouble getting it to work!

Wish the had a file code to trigger the frame packed mvc 3d like they do for frame packed SBS and TAB 3d versions.

I thought a custom EDID might signal the Zidoo that it needs to play the 3d version. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

First off, silly question, but I very much assume that you don't have the 3D to 2D Playback menu option selected on the Zidoo, correct? Secondly, what firmware level are you at with your Zidoo?
I have tons of 3d mkv files that I ripped myself using MakeMkv and they all play perfectly on my Z9x and Z9x Pro. You are not ripping them properly. Make sure that once you open the disc with MakeMkv, that you then have to manually select the actual 3D MVC video track or it will only rip the 2d version. Maybe post a MediaInfo report from one of your rips that doesn't play properly?

    1. No I have that feature turned off

    2. Firmware is v1.0.95

    3. I think I'm ripping them correctly. I choose the mkv that says 3D. Couldn't get picture uploaded. Hope you can help me. The iso files okay great just waste lots of drive space.

    Thank you!

I asked you to attach a MediaInfo report of the files that don't play..

And what is your exact hook up scenario? Zidoo to a receiver? Have you tried direct to projector? Do you have multiple displays connected to your receiver for output?

Setup is Zidoo is connected to Yamaha Receiver CA-5100 which goes to JVC NZ9 Projector. That is only display that is connected. 3D iso files play in 3d fine just can't get the MVC to start up in 3d they play only in 2d. Here is the file I exported on one of the MKV's. Thanks again for your help.

You are obviously not selecting/ ripping the 3D video file after MakeMkv opens it .. Here is what one of my files look like... MediaInfo shows.... under the Video section... there should be Count of Views (2) and also a Mulitview layout (both eyes laced in one block) Your report does not show that...

Thank you for your help! I will have to see if I can figure out what I am doing wrong in ripping the movie.
