Hello All, Recently, due to an unexplained Samba file transfer slowdown, I upgraded my PC Laptop from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. My apps work ok, but when I go to to a file transfer to my Z10R using Samba, it completes about 1/5 of the transfer, then I get an error message Error 0x8007003B and the transfer stops. I tried disabling the firewall and virus protection and I have no anti-virus software. Has anyone here run into this issue? How did you solve it? Thanks
Have you tried Googling this error? It gives this explanation: "One of the most common reasons you may encounter the Error 0x8007003B message while transferring large files over a network is if the destination drive is FAT32 formatted. In that case, transferring a file that is larger than 4 GB is most likely to fail and result in an error like". Maybe that's what your problem is. Format destination hard drive to NTFS and try again
@William Brett Kramer - I'm sure this isn't your specific issue but this code means amongst other things that the destination disk cannot be found. I had this issue recently when I connected a 4-disk array via USB DIRECT to a NAS (ie; not to the Ziddo). Look up the specific thread should this be your issue. Perhaps explain your connections though and from where and to where you are transferring.
I have a similar issue. I tried to transfer a movie from my Windows 11 computer to my Zidoo Z9X's external hard drive (exFAT) via Samba. When I start copying the file from my Windows 11 drive, the Error 0x8007003B will appear after a minute. However, the file continues to copy to the Zidoo hard drive. Once the copy is complete, the Zidoo cannot play the mkv file even though the movie is correctly identified by the Zidoo. The workaround is to copy and paste the file in the Zidoo UI. Doing this is clunky and the transfer speed is extremely slow at about 2GB per minute. Is there a better way to transfer the file?
Error during the copy process is not normal and most likely related to your setup. Everybody copy and moves files around Zidoo devices to and from internal and external hard drives using Samba. No errors. You mentioned 2GB per minute using Zidoo UI. I’m assuming that you are talking about Media Center (the file browser from Zidoo Home Screen) and copy paste from your Windows Samba to Zidoo attached drive? In any case you shouldn’t see much of a difference between initializing copy process from Zidoo or your PC. Using wired gigabit network at maximum speed you should see speeds slightly over 100 MBps. My old Sony Vaio laptop at least 15 years old with Windows 11 forced on and SSD upgrade copies files at 70 MBps on average to USB or SATA Zidoo attached drives NTFC formatted without any issues or faults at all. Some people reported full Gigabit speeds over 100MBps to Zidoo attached USB hub with multiple drives. Your 30GB per minute is about 33 MBps. Not all that bad but you should check your PC first. Make sure you don’t have some processes in the background scanning your files or some other issues taking up CPU resources. Zidoo is pretty solid as far as copying and transferring files. On occasion I copy hard drives from smaller to a larger like 8 TB to a 10 TB drive through Zidoo USB ports. It takes hours and the speed is in a reasonable range of 120MBps. No issues whatsoever.
Thank you for sharing. Your details inspired me to try to transfer a file from my Macbook Air to the Zidoo. A 2GB transfer finished in 45 seconds. My Macbook was connected via Ethernet to the main switch, a Netgear 16-port gigabit unmanaged GS316P switch. The Zidoo is connected to a Netgear 5-port gigabit unmanaged GS305 switch, which is connected to the main switch. My Windows 11 PC is connected to the same 5-port switch as the Zidoo. Do you think the failed transfer from the Windows 11 PC is due to my software or hardware configuration?
I don't think it is a configuration as per say that you could change to avoid the copy errors. It's more of a glitch that has to be debugged. It could be a bad plug at the switch, maybe some issues with the switch itself or you computer overloaded with background processes or some other driver issues.
After taking the troubleshooting steps below, I was able to copy an 18GB MKV from my Macbook to the Zidoo Samba Server in under three minutes. This is in line with the expected 100MBps transfer rate. When I copied the same MKV from my Windows 11 PC to the Zidoo, I received error 0x8007003B. Oddly enough, the copy progressed until the entire file was on the Zidoo. However, the MKV is unplayable. Any further direction is greatly appreciated! Troubleshooting steps 1. I switched network cables with no improvement. The switches should be fine since copying a file from my Macbook Air over Ethernet completed with no issue. 2. I did a 'Network reset' in Windows 11 Network & internet > Advanced network settings > Network reset. 3. I also "Reset this PC" from Settings > System > Recovery to revert back to a clean Windows install.
@spamdavy, check around on the Microsoft forums about this error. Here is one string of messages troubleshooting this Windows 10 error. At the end they narrow it to the cable but it could have been something within the Windows. Check for Wireshark (or a similar tool) and install it first. Something is controlling your network pockets. It effects LAN and WAN. Check if you have the same issue on Wifi. Another post talks about going through everything on Windows 10 and eventually deleting Windows and installing a fresh copy of Windows 10 that solved the issue.
Following up in case my solution helps someone. It turns out that my external hard drive needed to be formatted from exFAT to NTFS for the transfer to work as expected in Windows 11. However, the transfer speed is around 60MB/s which is about half the speed I attained while transferring from my Macbook to the exFAT drive, prior to formatting.
I am new here and have the same issue with the same eror code. I own a 9zx 8K with a 16 To HDD plugged in. I previoiusly owned a Shield Pro and had no issue transfering large files to the HDD but this is no more the case. Files get transferred with ou without success randomly (or so it seems) and I have no explanation to why it would transfer or not. Can you be of any help as I tried everything I could to sort that out before answering (I believe there is something I missed anyway). Thanks for your help.
