USB randomly disconnect (without solution)

Does anyone know how to solve the problem of USBs, both 2.0 and 3.0, that randomly disconnect? It's getting really hard to watch an entire movie without having to turn the device off and on to get it to read the external drive again. I am using the latest version, that is, 3.88, but in any case it happened to me with previous Firmware. I know there is already a post on this topic but honestly I haven't found a solution to date.
