Proposal Solid state drive on the data port?

Hi

I was wondering if my spare spare 128 gig ssd could be useful if connected to the sata port?

I have never really found a use for the sata port and it seems to me that maybe a ssd could be used to increase system memory or something.

Any ideas about formatting or possible uses appreciated.
