    Hello guys,
I'm a newbie here. I seek assistance choosing a hard drive for my newly acquired z1000 pro.
I initially got a WD101EFBX (10TB) but could not get it to boot in the media player, and to return it. Thereafter, I got a WD40EZAZ (4TB) and encountered the same problem of not being able to get the HDD to boot.
Now sure which spec to get now as I fear encountering the same issue again.
Was it that I was required to do any sort of configuration to the HDD before they could work?

Any recommendation or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Did you first create a partition (in GPT) on your new disk, using disk management in windows?

Thank you for the reply. No I didn't, I was under the impression these new HDD were simply plug n play.
Please is there a link to a guide on how I can get this sorted using Windows 11?

They are not. If you plug these HDDs to your PC ( using internal SATA of using a dock station plugged in USB), you won’t be able to see them in Windows until you create a partition (the process will also format the drive at the end).

To access to Disk Management, right clic on the start button in Windows. You will find it in the list. The link below will help you for the rest.

At the end, rename the HDD for whatever you want. That could help you in the future to manage your HDDs with the Zidoo if you add new ones in external, stuff like that.

You can go up to 16TB for an internal HDD in your Zidoo. The WDs Red Plus or Pro work very well. I use a WD Red Plus 14TB in internal and it works like a charm.

I was able to successfully install my WD Red Pro (14TB) without any issues today. Thank you so much for coming to my rescue.

On another note, I noticed there is a brief black screen when a video starts, do you know if there is way of getting rid of it? It's mostly noticeable when you play music videos.

Once again, thank you for the advice.
