I purchased a Zidoo Z9X 8K a few weeks ago after a lengthy chat with ChatGPT about a budget-friendly Roon-ready device with Native DSD, Multichannel Capabilities, and HDMI outputs. ChatGPT happily recommended the Roon Ready certified Zidoo Z9X which I confused with the Z9X 8K (not Roon Ready certified). Still, I hoped for the best when I saw a post in the Roon community about the Zidoo UHD 8000 being Roon Ready with beta firmware updates. I then accepted the beta firmware updates for Z9X 8K. Roon Remotes on my phone or tablet do not see the Z9X 8K on the network as a Roon device unless I have the Roon App running on the Z9X 8K. Audio is still being resampled even after the beta firmware updates. I hope that an update is coming that will add true Roon Ready capability with bit perfect audio to the Z9X 8K. In the meantime... Does anyone else have experience with the Z9X 8K that has achieved streaming bit-perfect audio from Roon to the device, without the Roon app running on the Z9X 8K? Is there a setting that can be changed or a bit of voodoo that will accomplish this?
Had hoped for the addition of Roon Ready feature for the Z9x 8k with the v1.80 firmware update. I've posted here and in other forums, and sent messages to Zidoo. So far just crickets
I can't say for sure but I have a sneaking suspicion it may be a UHD8000 only feature. I too had purchased the Z9X 8K for it's music capabilities; namely Qobuz, Tidal and AM music services via the Zidoo controller, as well as PEQ, only to find out these are all UHD8000 exclusives.
Please read this for a more detailed explanation, however in brief, Tidal Connect IS available on the Z9X 8k, however Tidal, AM, Qobuz Music Services are not.
I have written to Ziddo asking when the Zidoo z9x 8k will be Roon Ready. I have not received a reply for 3 months. Does anyone know how to get in touch with Zidoo Support, in such a way that they will reply?
I received a reply from Zidoo support about the Zidoo Z9X 8K becoming a Roon Ready device by way of a firmware update: Zidoo support wrote: "Currently, this plan is not on the R&D team's list, so I don't know when ROON READY will be available in Z9X 8K."
