Hiccups in ZDMC/Kodi DD 5.1 or DTS sound, Media Center works flawlessly

I am a new owner of a Zidoo X6 Pro with firmware 1.0.33 The Zidoo X6 is connected (HDMI) to a Maranz SR6004 Receiver.

When I use ZDMC/Kodi and watch a DD 5.1 or DTS movie, using one of the Add-ons or using a movie on my Hard Disk, every 4 seconds there is a hiccup in the audio and the audio is way out of sync. When I disable Audio passthrough in ZDMC/Kodi, the hiccups are gone and also the out of sync problems. My settings are (as mentioned in Zidoo X6 FAQ) in Android Audio output: Hdmi bitstream and in ZDMC/Kodi: Number of channels 5.1, enable passthrough, Dolby Digital (AC3) capable receiver and DTS capable receiver.

When I use the Media Center and watch a DD 5.1 or DTS movie, it works flawlessly. So this is a solution/work around for watching movies on my Hard Disk but not for DD 5.1 or DTS movies using ZDMC/Kodi. And in the Media Center the subs are not displayed (for example the italic symbol in the subs is displayed) properly, so my preference is to use ZDMC/Kodi for my movies on my Hard Disk as well.

the setting have some problem, you should not set the Number of channels. we will write a document to how to set the passthrough for kodi.

I set the number of channels to the default 2.0. The out of sync problem is over but the hiccups (every 4 seconds) persists. Any idea?

 

Are all ripped down movies, of course?
In which format?
Encoding?
Frame rate of the movies? Is always the same? Behaviour change with different encoding o frame rate?

This question are not form me, but to give more details to Zidoo...

 

maybe you should kill the setting of channel numbers, if this is not necessary - because most of the users will put in there the numbers of speakers they have - oki?

 

I tried really a lot of movies. For example Avi’s and MKV-Matroska. Framerate 23.976 fps and 25,000 fps. Ripped movies and movies using an Add-on. All movies have the audio (hiccups) problem…..

 

In kodi number of chanels apply only to non passthrue setting, if using 5.1 chanel it set pcm to 5.1. Two section in sound setting, first at top audio output pcm ( each chanel separate) , then lower is passthrue output using digital (digital always use only 2 chanel). That why there are two audio ouput in setting first one for pcm and second for digital. Digital has many setting for corresponding to receiver capability.

But it only works for Kodi 17.
I hope they will backport it to Kodi 16.1 perhaps.
But Kodi Developers argue so much among each other that almost nothing gets fixed fast enough.

Insteas, Movian developer had contacted me for some log file to solve his program stuttering issue on X6... An example for all developers!

sorry movian is far far away to be near kodi
unlexible, stuttering in most of the videos, complicated to use ... ... ...
kodi had been better in the first versions
even the use of the keyboard is without tricks not possible

grummel2005, I don't agree with you, absolutely.
Movian have a minimalist interface, no useless frills, no "bells and whistle"
This is my taste, my point of view. You could not agree, but don't criticize.
I need X6 to view movies, not to admire a fancy interface.

But, I'm sorry, some things you say are not true.
Instead is simple to use particularly with Zidoo IR remote, fast to start, has a responsive interface, fast network (DLNA) browsing, and with addons support (even of course not like Kodi)

Yes, is stuttering, more then Kodi (not immune from this problem) but less and less every new release, and the developer seems to like to add Rockchip support. I hope it so!
About keyboard, I agree, this "screen keyboard" that appears always when you need to enter text or number is indeed very strange.
I'll ask some advice about...

Anyway, if you don't like Movian, don't use it. Let others free to choose.

You love Kodi? Fine!
I'll like Kodi when it will run smooth. Not now.

What's the meaning of "unlexible" ?

 

if you want to have a minimalist device why you buy an android based device?
this is taking much performance which you could use to prevent stuttering
